As I said earlier elsewhere, the only difference between the RDF and the RSF is that at the RDF Mark II there is no knighthood at stake.

Shit, I didn't realise the Prinsmeister was on staff there!
Great source of science info, the old RPrins, but a prude to the core...

As an experiment I have reported
this post on the grounds that in line with that forum's rules ("
No discussions of personal
sexual issues,
desires, or problems" are allowed). The 'offending' part of it is the bit I bolded and underlined. In case it does get deleted I quoted it below:
rEvolutionist wrote:Sorry, haven't read the whole thread, so I don't know what consensus has been reached. I have often wondered the same thing, and have recently come to the conclusion that I have a fetish for boobs. I just love the things. Going by how much is on show these days, I figure that most people mustn't share this fetish. What is the consensus so far? Are guys turned on by boobs or not?
Copy of report:
"I have a fetish for boobs. I just love the things"
This post needs binning on the grounds of it contravening the FUA, namely, it contains an expression of a personal sexual desire.
It's been binned.
Oh well, I suppose that indicates a consistent approach to stamping out discussions of a sexual nature from a personal point of view.

Well, this just brings us straight back to staff stepping in and stating "question answered, thread locked", doesn't it?
And "bitching and moaning"? (where's the bucket and mop to clean up that dripping condescension) I can see what your attitude is to people who hold a different view to yours.

I seem to recall dev saying once that it turned him on when Charlou and I were fighting... maybe that was his purpose for this thread all along....

If you have issues about RatSkep then raise them with the staff at RatSkep. All of this bitching and moaning about RatSkep here at Rationalia is quite frankly pissing me off.
Well just offering my unwanted opinion about this. The people in this thread have been talking about not liking a certain policy. To be honest, Starr, you seem to be the most hot-headed one about this here. It doesn't make sense to get uptight about it, despite the fact that you are helping the derails. In fact if you just left this thread alone you wouldn't be getting riled up. I guess I'm just saying don't get angry about people criticizing a policy. They did try to voice their concerns on RS but the way the threads were locked left a bitter taste in their mouth.
Summary: Just be cool.
I'm not real good at this whole "derailing" thing but let me try:

I can live with doubt, and uncertainty, and not knowing. I think it's much more interesting to live not knowing than to have answers which might be wrong. [...] I don’t feel frightened by not knowing things, by being lost in a mysterious universe without having any purpose, which is the way it really is, as far as I can tell, possibly. It doesn’t frighten me. - Richard Feynman

Really?
Hot-headed as in losing my temper and saying unreasonable things or hot-headed as in passionate about the discussion?

Its not really a dichotomy. You make good points but at the same time you are telling people not to talk about it here where they feel comfortable talking about it. Just so I'm not being misunderstood I know you haven't directly said not to talk about it but the context of your statements and the assisting of the derails indicates you would rather not have this discussion here go on. To me that is irrational. (Seraph pointed out another incident)
I like both forums(Rationalia a bit more to be honest). It seems a bit prudish to me, the stance against sex, but meh. Beyond closing Dev's thread regarding the rules in tech I don't care enough to take up the good fight. I think RS is missing out on potential community building and good discussion all around but thats ratske's choice.

People do have to bear in mind that ratskep is just a baby... and there are other priorities right now besides arguing about all the rules. It does make eminently good sense to make the RDF rules a starting point.
The ex-RDF staff do have a good record when it comes to opening discussions on how the rules on things like trolling and personal attacks should be worded and handled. It wouldn't surprise me if in the future discussions were started on things like the "no personal sex stories" thing by the staff and changes were made. But as I said before, it's not priority #1.
And rationalia is here for all your felching needs.
