It would appear that it was not followed through properly from all angles, and/or that the software isn't quite bulletproof.
Not that this tells us anything new, as we already had a very good reason why this was done: RD couldn't post directly himself, as he was locked out like all other users. It just underlines the central issue, which is that Josh Timonen was given a message to post on behalf of RD which he had to know contained seriously false and misleading information.
My bold.

Exactly. If RD posted it by himself, then they could have at least argued mutual plausible deniability. RD could have claimed "Well, Josh told me about insults X, Y and Z, and I assumed that these were made at RD. net before the lockdown. Actually, we got our wires badly crossed, and he didn't mean to imply that they were made there at all. He didn't know that I was going to say what I did. It was all an innocent misunderstanding in the heat of the moment.". But because we know that Josh was involved in the mechanics of posting the notice, that excuse goes out the window. RD can still claim that
he was mistaken, but at the cost of indirectly blaming Josh for not pointing it out at the time, when Josh had the chance.
And I think we can safely rule out the possibility that RD himself logged to the admin account ...

Kevin - if you read Richard's apology he makes clear what I hypothesised - that he himself read the very comments here, and in writing out the 'Outrage' post, wasn't aware of creating any ambiguity or implication that the comments came from RD.net. He addresses this quite amply in his apology, to my mind.

DISREGARD THAT, I SUCK COCKS.
Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Am I the only one who found that a bit strange? It's quite clear that anyone who reads Outrage! without knowing those quotes came from here would assume they came from RD.net from the context. He quotes them right after writing about how awful and vitriolic all the responses to closing down the forum were with no mention of any alternative forum in the entire post.

Correct. The best he can hope for in that case is the proverbial fool's pardon IMHO. He's been long enough in the public eye to know that you read and re-read something before release, and then get someone else to re-read it just in case. And it's not as if he doesn't have half a lifetime's practice in crafting tightly-written and carefully worded letters and articles. Given the importance that he obviously attached to this statement, it seems it was drafted and published with reckless haste.

I can already overcome the gag reflex when fully relaxed and into what I'm doing.

You are a good woman, lordpasternack. Gotta love a woman who loves fellatio, or irrumatio for that matter.

Urgh, sword-swallowing. Sounds too potentially slicey-slicey to me.

Indeed. I wonder how that would go down at a circus.
