Re: What should i buy? Xbox or what?
Although my xbox has been great and served me well, If I had the money I think I would now swap to the PS3. I may do it next year if I get the job I'm going for.

Buy both.
I picked up a 360 for £70...

Save up for a decent Computer. It'll last five years - roughly the same length as a console - and to 'upgrade' a pc will only cost you around $200-300 every five years instead of $600-800 for new consoles.

RED RING OF DEATH. 'nuff said.

I have all three current-gen consoles (compensation for my lack of a Super Nintendo when I was a kid
). I've wound up using the PS3 the most, but more for a media server (not how I expected to use it upon purchase, but it works quite well); personally, I think the 360 has the best library.
That said, I think what's most important is probably your personal game preferences/style. In your shoes, I'd spend some time perusing Metacritic, upcoming release lists, and some online video game retailers (Amazon?), and make a wish list of everything that looks interesting for any console, then pick the console that has the most hits or seems to have the strongest trend for you.
BTW, in case this helps: http://bjdraw.com/2009/07/03/how-to-tel ... -a-jasper/ - If you go the 360 route, it's worth it to check before buying to get a Jasper, if you can.

Not quite, though this was a problem on older models, there has been substantially less problems with Xbox's in the last year according to console shops in my area.Mephistopheles wrote:RED RING OF DEATH. 'nuff said.
