Driving / Racing / Flight Sims for PS3

Post by Xamonas Chegwé » Tue Mar 02, 2010 10:00 pm

Any recommendations please?

I have a mate that is buying a PS3 this week and is hugely into racing, driving and flight sim type games. I have no interest in this sort of stuff, so i thought i would ask if any of you lot are a fan and can give any tips?

Cheers

I can add a couple of opinions about PS3 racing games.

You/your friend may also want to check out gamefaqs.com. Just look up the racing and driving section for PS3 and check out the reviews for the various games. They list most if not all the available games for PS3.

1 positive(mostly) - Motorstorm is a fun arcade off-road racer. Nice eye and ear candy. Be warned though, later in the game the AI's only objective is to keep you from winning. Kinda takes the incentive out of finishing it up, for me anyway.

1 negative - Grid is a crap. However, if your friend has experience with any other CodeMasters games like the TOCA Race Driver games, this is almost the exact same thing, but with improved visuals. I.e., the physics are the same bizzare, floaty, car is on stilts kinda thing that seem to plague these guy's games. YFMMV.

Thanks for that. I will pass that on. I already told him to check on GFAQ.

Gran Turismo was always the driving sim for PS. There are others but they aren't as good, IMO.

The Ac e Combat series was fantastic fun for a flight sim but unfortunately the latest version is only for XBox I think. I can't remember which versions run on PS3 but they are all good. Dogfighting on a big screen rocks.
