About me: If I had my way I'd buy a few acres of land and an old tractor. I'd drive the old tractor around the land and passers-by would stop to ask me what kind of crop I was farming. "Crop?" I'd say, "Crops are work, I'm planting ideas."

TBH we get so little news from Canadia* I'm generally assume it is a pacifist land and you all stay in at the weekends behaving.
Unless you folk are staying quite because you're up to something... :ask:

Sorry to hear you've got the Tories in power fucking up your country (it's what they're there for). :console:

To answer your question, I had to vote no. It's hard to know how the society of a country you don't live in has changed. The world generally views Canada as very tolerant and liberal (even by European standards, and certainly when compared to your southern neighbours), and as far as I'm aware that perception hasn't changed.

Reverend Blair, cheese option please!

I live half a world away and the honest answer would be "No" but given it is the No of Ignorance rather than the No of Opinion, I want cheese. :food:

Barabas: Fornication! But what was in another country; and besides, the wench is dead.

All of the above, but mostly 3.

Damn, knew I was missing something. I'll see if I can figure out how to add one.

I was kind of afraid of that. The current Canadian government is every bit as bad as the Bush government was in the US. They've run away from international agreements such as Kyoto and tried to undermine international meetings like the ones in Copenhagen and Bali. Our science minister is, by all indications, a creationist. Harper is working on taking aid money away from NGOs that support abortion and/or birth control. We've got religious conservatives sitting on scientific ethics panels. Our stem cell research scientists are moving to the US and Europe, as are our climate change scientists.

I can go on pretty much forever, on this. These guys are truly and frighteningly regressive. The thing is that the international community doesn't really notice because we're just Canada, after all.

Well, i guess Holland is worse. We might be heading towards a fascist dictatorship. That whole Wilders thing is getting far out of hand.

Yeah, but until Harper realized he had a shot at winning an election, he wanted to privatize our healthcare and make it just like the US system. I doubt he really changed his mind, just realized that he unelectable with that stance.
