Anyway, after reading Richard's "announcement" on RDF. I'm seriously reconsidering attending the conference.
The sheer number of misunderstandings and quotemines in his update made me double check what subforum I was in, for some reason I thought I was reading a post made by a creationist in the Debunking Creationism section! :nono:

Is a Josh Award worth 2 Dunsapys?
 I don't know, I'll have to discuss that with Hack and work out what the level of currency exchange is like at this time of year. At the moment, the value of the Josh is high, whilst the Dunsapy has descended into near insignificance with the recent events. The markets tend to fluctuate a fair bit though, so I couldn't even begin to forecast the future rates for the rest of the week!

If you're looking for a solid investment, then you want to look at property. I hear there is an empty lot over at http://www.richarddawkins.net that once housed 85,000 people - with a bit of know-how I bet someone smart could bring it back to its former glory! Unfortunately it's still run by a dipshit.

Here's the deal:

I'm going to see Dawkins on the 13th of March in Auckland.Don't know if anyone else is going, I think Kiwi over on RDF was going too but I can't seem to find him here.

Anyhoo, after the deplorable events of yesterday's great bankruptcy, I would like to make a point, and let him know how I feel about the whole deal, especially the callous way in which the mods have been treated.

Here's my problem, I'm rather shy and not at all outspoken. Any suggestions?
You know, I read RD's announcement, and I think that because he was not fully involved in it and only able to graze the surface, he didn't really know what it was all about ie. the community of people. I'm sure that he got a lot of guff about the laxed state of it, and the profanity that was used to get points across sometimes. But, as much as science and theory is wonderful to be a part of, we're all still human and who the hell cares if people use profanity to get points across...too an extent of course. But, at least its real. Behind the scientific guise, people still get pissed off and as humans what better way to show our impatience than throwing out a few swear words every now and then. You'd think that RD would be one of the people who could understand what it is to be pissed off when it comes to debating a scientific view of what you believe. Although excessive profanity is a bit over the top, but if some people can't take a few words thrown out here and there, than they should go back to the craddle. So they want to make a forum that has to monitor everything that goes out to the public? That's a bunch of bullshit, and it's not real. It's based on what some or a few moderators think is appropriate. I don't understand why all of life has to be put through a filter. That's not how it is.

Anyway, Beatrice, I think you should fully speak up for yourself if you have anything address. And by doing that, RD might get a glimpse of a real, and honourable person that did have a part in his forum. Maybe he is of the opinion that the people that posted there were a bunch of degenerate fools. And that is not the case. I can see that you are a very good person, and if you asked him a question from a person who is honest and good, than maybe he might clue in to the type of people that really housed his forum.
