Richard… an ex-fan speaks out!

I don't think that Ratz could sustain this level of membership and retain its character. While I have been a member for some time, I still see this as a sort of staging post, while we gather our forces and our thoughts and work out what to do next. I hadn't thought much beyond just getting the word out so that people would have somewhere to congregate, but some thought will have to be given to that before much longer.

I'm quite sure youse do. Coming back to this after a brief 3-day break to find RD.net has gone tits up and Rationalia has now expanded to the point that I now have over 16 pages of new posts compared to the usual 5 or so. It's not nice.

They are still in shock .....most of em aren't even making with the jokes or pictures ..... hardly any puns .... and I don't think any of them have got their kit off yet.

Hope not, I really like it here. Sorry original Ratz, the previous pogroms passed me right by as I rarely posted outside Politics and Current Affairs and only found this place by googling 'Richard Dawkins forum closed' or similar. I don't even know what the much-missed Vet's was or why Josh doesn't like felching. Most of the posters I knew from RD are posting here and I hope they stick around too. It does feel very much like moving into a new house and I'm trying not to drop anything on the carpets but from what I've seen so far the neighbours are lovely

I hate to be a dumb fuck, but not asking as the days turn into months, will make me look even dumber, what is RATZ?

And while I’m here and musing… I said it somewhere else on the forum, but I’m here and I’m here to stay.

I’d have no respect for myself if I came here, used their forum for the odd (really odd) serious post, to play the games, like the mafia game and so on and then if Richard says, 'Oh sorry, you dumb assholes, I didn’t have a clue (he never does) what happened, please come back!'

Nope. Won’t happen! This forum took all of us in, gave us a home, is letting us set-up our previous games and to tell them to ‘FUCK OFF!’ the minute Richard calls us back, no way, no way!

We were told in no uncertain terms to fuck off of Richard’s site unless we tow the party line. I’ll only allow anyone to tell me that… once. I won’t crawl back on bended knees, kiss their collective asses and hope against all hope, that I’ll be accepted.

I have too much pride for that. Josh, Andrew and Dicky-boy can blow themselves to death; but they’ll do it without me.

I think I agree. Of course if Ratz (which is short for Rationalia, SP---at least I think it is ) starts to feel the strain that's a different story. but it would seem extremely ungracious to pop in, change the furniture around and then bugger off again.

I don't think I was ever under the illusion that RD actually spent much time worrying about his forum, and although I think he's very proficient at his work, I don't feel any worship syndrome. I think perhaps he received a lot of whining about trolling and flaming, and maybe even complaints under the 'Incitement of Religious Hatred' laws?

So, he might have decided to clean up?

Yeah, that's what I reckon. He didn't owe anyone the bandwidth after all and there's nothing unreasonable about disassociating his name and brand from such a massive and lively forum, if that's what he wanted.

In any case I'm sure he didn't instruct his greasy virgin admin to just pull the plug like he did, the ultimate strategy may have come from Dawkins but the award for "doing everything like an incompetent and cowardly retard" most assuredly goes to Josh Timonen, who is a CUNT.
