My sign-up date for this site is the day I resigned over there. The current 'direction' was already known by that time.

That date being August 21st 2009, not long after the hacker episode. I wonder if the hacker business was used as leverage in convincing RD to dump the forum?

I could be wrong, but I think Josh was told to do what he needed to do and took license with that. Why else would he try so hard to keep people from contacting RD himself?

Hmmm. I'm sure RP knows more than he's telling.

I'm sure he does, but this at least tallies with other comments of his in the interim. Leaving all else aside, any statement of fact from him (no matter how obtuse) can usually be taken as being kosher. It also tallies with all the other rumours I had heard over the past few months, some from extremely reliable sources.

Cali has logged in here a couple of times already, and I think he started to post once, but he hasn't actually said anything. I hope he does soon.

If you are going to tell more people about this (like New Humanist, PZ Myers etc) please bring up the fact that Mazille, the moderator responsible for the science-writing award, was completely deleted from the forum, along with every post he ever made.

Does anyone know any decent bloggers at national newspapers that might cover something like this? I'm thinking the Guardian and the Independent would probably be the best bet.

Oh come on now, it's not that big an issue. Why should papers be interested in it? And what would they write?

I don't expect them to put it in the newspaper ffs, but I don't think it would be beyond a blog entry from someone with a rather large readership and a history of commenting on atheism and secularism.

I've copied a bunch of formal debates, and posts from the Reptile Threads parts 1-3. And I managed to screen capture various things before the dodgy, cowardly censorship by the turd-burgler.

Been out'a touch in Florida and not surfin' much so all this is a fucking big surprise, but I read something several minutes ago that things would be read-only there. Are they gonna actually censor/delete shit, too, or might the post I read have been in response to (very valid) concerns/complaints about censorship?
