Announcement about RDF
Re: Announcement about RDF
Hey all. I've successfully relocated my anti-theist operations to this regime.

I think Josh has serious mental problems, perhaps he is undercover christian
I would like to say we would not have him, but of course we welcome sinners, hypocrites and the terminally crap - by definition that's what we (Christians) are

Gallstones has a Facebook page. She posted a non-link to it before everything went tits up but I do know Nora is a F’book friend of hers.ozewiezeloose wrote:I'd send Josh the exact same picture if I could still post PM's. What, you didn't realise when you signed up there that you forfeited your rights as an individual, agreed to perpetual mental indentured servitude, and that your identity became sole property of RDF?ficklefiend wrote:That was really mean that one. I just tried to change my avatar [with your www.rationalia.com jpg] over at (once was) RDF's and got this:
Farrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrk! The upload was rejected because the uploaded file was identified as a possible attack vector.
Jimmy Lee Farnsworth: Erwin, admit that you are a sinner.
Fletch: Uh. Well, I've sinned. I didn't take any Polaroids or anything. But, yeah, I've sinned.
Jimmy Lee Farnsworth: The Lord forgives ya!
Fletch: Thank you. Thank you very much. Thank you. Thank you. Amen. What? Other sins? Uh, I parked in a handicap spot on my way up here. Actually, on a handicap person. I told him I'd be back in five minutes, so that's not such a big deal.

Re: Announcement about RDF
Not to mention the fact that going off on tangents is the way that creativity and imagination works. Thinking outside the square, seeing where those tangents lead, and forming logical connections between them and the original topic. How many discoveries were made because someone went off on a tangent and found that through it they were able to answer their original question (think of how Kekule's dream of a snake swallowing its tail gave him the idea for the structure of benzene, for a colourful example).ficklefiend wrote: Sticking on topic is actually very hard, it's not the way our brains work or the way normal human conversation goes. It stifles debate because it stops new people adding new information. On very strict "on-topic" forums I have been in it often seems like people run out of things to say, because they must stick to such a narrow way of exploring the issue.
This is how how things would go under the new forum format:
Posted by Randomchemist
You know, this benzene structure is really tricky to figure out. It seems to me that it should be a nice linear molecule, except all the hydrogen atoms on it all behave chemically identical, which is impossible with a linear molecule.
Posted by Kekule
I was pondering the structure the other night, when I fell asleep and had this weird dream of a snake swallowing its own tail.
Posted by SmallmindedAdmin
The above post is off topic, and shall be deleted forthwith. Kekule is now banned for ignoring repeated warnings not to go off on tangents.
Post that would have been made by Randomchemist had it not been for SmallmindedAdmin
>I was pondering the structure the other night, when I fell asleep and had this weird dream of a snake swallowing its own tail.
A snake swallowing its own tail, as in circular? That would make all the hydrogens equivalent! I think you've figured it out, Kekule! Genius!

But the copyright of those posts technically belonged to RD.net and if Josh is not willing to co-operate...
Hey natselrox glad you made it! My understanding of copyright is that it is vested in the author, not the publishing medium. One would have to read the small print of the forum agreement, but given no money changed hands i think all content is still (c) the original authors? Maybe this needs a new thread?
