Re: Announcement about RDF
I was actually in the middle of writing a post on the announcement discussion thread when the forum shut down, so I figured I would copy it here:
In any respects I am looking forward to exploring around here now. I hadn't even heard of this place before the forum faced shutdown. As a relative newcomer I feel I have little right to be offended except on behalf of those who have invested much time and effort into this forum. I hope any thanks I can offer helps to alleviate the blow - the forum is going, but the work wasn't for nothing in reality. This is the first community in which I have felt comfortable to think myself an atheist and I have enjoyed exploring the posts of greater minds than my own. It has helped me gather the courage to begin to make my transition away from religion in a real, physical way as opposed to continuing my simple long term disbelief whilst going through the motions of religion.
I think I do reflect the attitude of a few people who see this as an unfortunate move towards elitism. I am sure the new system has the ability to become a great information resource, but it is unfortunate that it comes at the cost of a sense of free community. It just seems wholly counter-intuitive to the support for the OUT Campaign. Sometimes, people need a good community when their atheism causes personal problems at home, work or even in their own minds. This community is not found in the refined discussion boards you seek to create, and I daresay that makes this a rather hypocritical move. Publicise your atheism, but don't come looking here for support.
It's a shame.

None taken. I didn't really make my sarcasm about RDF's "fresh start" readily apparentIlovelucy wrote:
No offence, but bollocks to that. The only new beginning I'll salute is one that doesn't involve Chalkey and Josh. Otherwise, it's not a new beginning, it's the same old shit, double concentrated and marinated in otter spunk.

Re: Announcement about RDF
Is this going to be the first Ratz thread to hit 1000 posts in under 24 hours?
Although it may look like a forum, this site is actually a crowd-sourced science project modelling the slow but inexorable heat death of the universe.
