I bet the last thing you were expecting was for EVERYONE to get banned.

I still suspect a heinous mafia plot to work out who the PI is.

Out of habit I clicked "View New Posts" at RDF and nothing. It was spooky, like in a movie when they find a town that looks like everyone dropped what they were doing and left just a few hours ago.

Great to see you hear though

Hey! Durro!
...about the game...

(or is it a bad time right now?)
If you can get all 18 surviving players here, I'll restart the game here tomorrow from 7am with day round #2.
If not, we can start a new one (but not until later in the week) and have some Rationalia dudes join in. Oh wait, that would be us now. No more us and them. I always had a foot in both camps, but that's been taken away.
I'm open to suggestions re the Mafia Game. It was getting bloody interesting.
I'm all for this!
I know now's probably not the best time to be worrying about a game when our beloved(?) mod has got bigger things to worry about, but not knowing who killed me is just
killing me!

I'll mull it over for a few days.

As I said on another post, one could see Josh as a Wormtongue to RD's aging Theoden...
Or another analogy is Josh as Cardinal Richlieu...
Or RD (pissed of at a forum that has grown beyond his control) saying "who will rid me of this turbulent forum"
I iz in a literary analogy mood...

Wormtongue! Right-on. I thought he was a snivelling arsehole the last time things blew up, but at least the provocation was clear & the Admin hand was definitely forced. This is a whole other thing & maybe Richard will get wind of how appallingly people think he has acted in this instance. He needs to understand that you never send a boy to do a mans job. The least he owed the forum community was a direct communique (like last time) and the opportunity to finish things with some grace. Certainly people would have been angry, but with a rational explanation from his desk about this move, I think people could have made appropriate departures. To treat the mods the way they have is nothing short of despicable.
Jim, I assume you'll be there on the Sunday of the Convention. Will you join me in a silent protest when Richard takes the stage, greeted by the backs of his disenfranchised community?
Riddlemethis! Sensational you have joined!
I'm really looking forward to the conference, but obviously recent events will impinge... I have lost some respect for RD in his dealings with the forum, but I think I can keep that separate from the respect I have for him as a science writer and an atheist communicator. A babies and bathwater thing...
AA does post here, hope she will post even more now...
Nurse, where the fuck's my cardigan?
And my gin!

Also can someone please explain to this dullard...
Doesn't the RDF closure mean that it's simply going to open up again in a month or so? Apparently we're not going to "loose" our usernames & logins, but is it not still going to have a forum, or is that all in the past?
Confused.

As far as I can tell, it means they will have something like the front page, but with the facility for people to post their own articles if some supermod oks the post.
The logins are already linked, although it appears some (Mazille for one?) may have already been banned for being vociferous in their protests over what has taken place today.
Right now, it's hard for me to imagine posting on anything they put together.

That's what I didn't understand either. He seemed pretty clear that is was going to be re-opened again in 30 days. But the way it was gone about made things a little screwy I guess...

I anticipate a mass exodus of folks from RDnet to Ratz will come at a detriment to Ratz. No offense to anybody (I started my online "Atheist journey" at RDnet), but this forum is neither for atheist apologetics nor christian apologetics. I really have no interest in coming to Ratz and have to fight with random Christians, Mulsims, or Randians. If anything I feel Ratz is a humanist forum rather than an atheist one.

Another refugee here.
I see quite a few familiar faces, so at least I'm in the right place... I hope.
Does anyone know if Gallstones or many of the Politics regulars made it here (I noticed a couple like Matt H, SnowLeopard, Virphen, and Nine are here

)?
