Indeed... a couple of us have casually mentioned Ratz just in case anyone might be interested.
Yeah, DP's sig is real casual. :hehe:
I just saw that... :funny:

FUCKING SUBTLE!!!!11!!
I wonder if all the Ratz members should post the same signature under their avatars over at RD.net? Where's the marketing department? :ask:
Might be a bad idea, could get them all removed. We could always do it in relays.

The world is a thing of utter inordinate complexity and richness and strangeness that is absolutely awesome. I mean the idea that such complexity can arise not only out of such simplicity, but probably absolutely out of nothing, is the most fabulous extraordinary idea. And once you get some kind of inkling of how that might have happened, it's just wonderful. And . . . the opportunity to spend 70 or 80 years of your life in such a universe is time well spent as far as I am concerned.

Can I revive this and post it over there?

Give me your banned, your half-dead,
Your huddled masses yearning to speak of spunk,
The wretched cheese of your mouldy bread.
Send these, the forum-less, whose posts are nowt but junk,
I lift my glass beside this golden thread!

In the interest of saving as much really good material as possible, please contribute to my 'best posts' thread, so that I can get it archived before the lights go out.

The thread can be found here. I'm going to start archiving ASAP. Just stick a link in the thread, and I'll get it all offline and saved as pdf.

I'm rather in shock right now. However, it does make me feel better seeing all your reactions. I've been at RDF since the doors opened and hate to see this happen.

I'm thinking most people missed the part about the current staff over there being told we won't be on staff at the new forum.

The bit about them getting rid of all the current staff?

Edit: snap with Ayaan.

This is clearly the culmination of the process which led to the mass exodus (and us!) and the sanitisation of RichardD.com as a brand of sorts.

My first reaction was to suggest we gain 'permission' to suggest this forum as an alternative for those seeking a sense of fun and a fun community, however my second thought was 'do we want potentially several score or more new members suddenly arriving', as they surely would, if we 'advertise' to freely.

My third thought was - 'well we need a bit of new life and energy here'..as sadly things of late have lost a bit of that in my view. A forum like this has to develop. If it does not move forward it moves back..these enterprises can't stand still is my experience.

Perhaps we should consider inviting individuals we identify as potential members over the next couple of weeks - and make a concerted effort to do so. We will be pushing at an open door.

Good idea. If we are going to get a load of new members we will need.
