From top to bottom in Feck's spoiler, we have:Feck wrote:Some big fresh water fish The MTT ,Taimen or Siberian trout at the top
Trigger Warning!!!1! :
Hucho taimen, Siberian Salmon
Siluris glanis, European Catfish or Wels
Pangasianodon gigas, the Mekong Giant Catfish
Bagarius yarreli, or Goonch Catfish
Now, of these, the two seriously big ones are ...
[1] Mekong Giant Catfish. This is known to reach 10 feet in length, and a specimen weighing 676 lbs was caught recently. They are reputed to be capable of reaching 800 lbs fully grown. Sadly, they're on the CITES critically endangered list.
[2] European Catfish. This beast regularly exceeds 7 feet in Central European rivers, but the record for this species could be, wait for it, a whopping 15 feet. Fish of this size have not been verified by modern standards, but there persist claims that monster specimens of this size, exceeding 800 lbs in weight, have been taken from the Dniepr River back in the 19th century. They are certainly known to reach over 8 feet - here's an 8 foot specimen being landed on a boat:
