Possibly the most embarassing performance by anyone ever

Post by Rum » Fri Jan 22, 2010 5:09 pm

I have been reading William Shatner's (very entertaining ) autobiography. He's a fuckin' nutter for sure! In any case, in it he refers to a performance of the song Rocket Man he did at a Science Fiction conference he hosted in the late 70s. I have heard of this legendary performance, but never seen it. Having been prompted by the story I had to go look of course.

I really had to force myself to watch it to the end. Enjoy..laugh or cry or just feel incredibly embarrassed for the audience! Unforgettable stuff if you haven't seen it!

Shatner has released 2 albums of his 'interpretations' of songs. Very much worth having, if only to play to mates that have never heard them when they are stoned! :hehe:

I like to use them to torture Lisa with, she has a misguided thing for Shatner. he resembles my dad too closely for my tastes.

His method of 'serious' acting is to insert.... a pause or two in random places... within his dialogue. :hehe:

Brilliant! As good as the original! Who does the singing voice?

Shatner gets by on balls and brass nerve. He hasn't a talented bone in his body - and good luck to the man I say!
