Possession.

Post by Animavore » Thu Jan 14, 2010 9:52 pm

Probably my fav film last year was Lars Von Triers Antichrist. Mark Kermode talks about another film from 1981 called Possession with Isabelle Adjani and Sam Neill which he thinks is the influence for Antichrist. Apparently this was one of those "video nasties" they tried to ban but Kermode insists its a classic. I was wondering if any of the older folk here, or even some inquisitive young ones, have seen this movie and what did you think of it?

I heard about the Antichrist. Isn't it supposed to be really fucked up?

Some people might think so. I thought it was a great psychological thriller. It depends on your tolerance level. A lot of critics went mental about it saying it was an "abomination" and such. Some where outraged. Others thought it was brilliant. Films that divide critics are usually the ones I like. Especially when the ones who don't like it don't for moral reasons :hehe:

Ok. Em... I'm not really sure what I just saw there :?

Wow...

I was engrossed in that movie. Words like compelling, surreal and mildly disturbing come to mind. Its not a movie a will forget in a hurry. The performances from the actors were strenuous and frenetic.
I understand now why they kept this movie away from me.
I would urge anyone to see this.

What did I just say above? Download and watch now. Chop. Chop.

(just make sure its the 1981 film and not the recent tripe of the same name with Gwyneth Paltrow)

+1 (it has tentacle porn too  )
Outside the ordered universe is that amorphous blight of nethermost confusion which blasphemes and bubbles at the center of all infinity—the boundless daemon sultan Azathoth, whose name no lips dare speak aloud, and who gnaws hungrily in inconceivable, unlighted chambers beyond time and space amidst the muffled, maddening beating of vile drums and the thin monotonous whine of accursed flutes.
