Creationism and the 40 hour week.
Reading The Greatest Show on Earth reminded me of one of my favorite issues with creationism, that being the forty-hour week. The biggest problem with the Six Days of Creation is that the job shouldn't have taken six days if any god was powerful enough to create a world, leave alone a universe. So what happens in the BuyBull? "God" pads his paycheck with some overtime.
There was no need to "unbundle" the work into separate units. It should have been "Create entire world", and maybe one day allowed for that. Instead it appears he/she/it baby-stepped the work, taking an entire day to separate the light from the dark, for example. That's a instant job. It's either light or it isn't.
We can say the same for land/water, and creating the beasts and the humans should have been one smooth job. And we can point out endless examples of where the beasts could have been done better. I mean, platypus? Come on! Meeting a quota means more than just numbers, the work has to be quality or it shouldn't count. We could have hired a temp for that kind of thing, somebody with zero training who could be shown how to stick bits and pieces together.
But the worst thing here is the overtime? Why did he/she/it have to come in on Saturday? That's grounds for dismissal in my book.
So, that is why this matter has been referred to H.R. Please consider counseling for this employee, if not outright redundancy.

I think the universe was a bit of a waste of time, all that detail just for a few pretty lights in the night sky ......I mean the Dead Sea Pedestrians couldn't even navigate by the "holes in the firmament " 40 years to walk from Egypt to Palestine
Heather Mills could do it in a few days

Re: Creationism and the 40 hour week.
What I don't get is why it would take any days at all. Why not just instant?

Zilla I know you've read "Job" by Heinlein - that explains everything.

That's a major part of the employee action here. Our standards say one single universe shouldn't take more than one nanosecond. Even trainees get no more that one "day" to do the job, plus two more to correct the odd camel sized ants and volcanoes that spout chocolate sauce, etc.Animavore wrote:What I don't get is why it would take any days at all.
