I like Karin Dreijer Andersson and also Bjork, who have similar voices but still unique in their own ways.

I like voices that are unique enough to be instantly recognisable.

The very strange Karin Dreijer Andersson (some videos are from solo project, some from The Knife):












Also, while I'd rather listen to a talented singer than a shit singer, it has to be from the heart. As Bill Hicks said, "PLAY FROM THE FUCKING HEART!" So, sometimes the voice isn't actually what pulls me to artist. A good example is Kimya Dawson who records in her living room and can't sing for shit. :hehe:

Wow - this thread took off! Here's someone from the past - my first sense of what 'sophistication' was about..her voice was a bit flat, disinterested and sooooo coooool..
