confessions of a dope smoker
I was hoping to sneak in quietly and just sit in a corner without being noticed, but I guess it's obligatory to post something about yourself in this forum, so here goes:
I currently live in a very rural part of Hong Kong, just outside Fanling, which isn't rural. I should have been a writer, but I ended up smoking too much dope and never got anything done, apart from writing a comic fantasy novel a few years ago, for which I couldn't find a publisher. So back to the weed. Actually, I'm currently on a six-month sabbatical from the stuff, having smoked so much during the summer that it was seriously fucking up my short-term memory.
I escape back to the UK during the summer to get away from the heat here, so I'll no doubt slip back into my former ways next year with remarkably little effort, or no effort at all, to be perfectly honest. so bring on the amnesia....
I'm generally easy-going, but there is one thing that I do get worked up about: I detest organized religion, especially the Roman Catholic church, and I do get annoyed by people who slag off science without actually understanding what science is. Oh, and I also get pissed off by some of the idiotic cyclists here in Hong Kong, so don't get me started on that subject.

And all our yesterdays have lighted fools
The way to dusty death. Out, out brief candle
Life’s but a walking shadow, a poor player
That struts and frets his hour upon the stage
And then is heard no more. It is a tale
Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,
Signifying nothing. [Macbeth]
It am wicked to mock the afflicted. [BH (Calcutta), failed]
Dope will get you through times of no money better than money will get you through times of no dope. [Freewheelin' Franklin]
personal blog: the view from fanling [stories about Hong Kong and any other shite I can think up]

G'day, mate, welcome to the forum from Oz!
I used to love the weed, but had to give it up for idiosyncratic medical reasons...
Mind you, just reading half the posts on this forum is a mind-altering experience...

Greetings! We have one member who grew up in HK. I've been there a few times, Wan Chai and Kowloon-side mainly, while in the USN.
I have also indulges in the demon weed. And a few other things.

Welcome lofuji!
Sounds like you'll fit in well here.

Although it may look like a forum, this site is actually a crowd-sourced science project modelling the slow but inexorable heat death of the universe.

'Tis always good to take a break from the green. When you have a toke, months later. It hits you like a sledge!
Anyway, welcome sir, from a fellow man of the herb. (I'm on break too!, till the 29th Dec when my "mate's" crop is ready woooooo!)

Welcome! I have said it elsewhere too as I noticed your username! I lived in Hong Kong for almost 20 years as a kid and young adult, about four of those in Fan Ling in a place called Tai Ping bungalow which sat atop a little hill near the railway station. It was all very rural then, though Fan Ling itself was a town.
Still miss it. I envy you.

I lived out that way too, as a kid. At Kowloon Tsai. With a view over Kai Tak airport from our front verandah and Lion Rock from the back. I was only 6 when we left but I would love to go back one day.Rum wrote:Welcome! I have said it elsewhere too as I noticed your username!
