Watched "Moon" on the flight last week, and enjoyed it very much. Managed to avoid reading any of this thread until now - I'd seen it and took Paco's recommendation, but that's all. It would probably have been better on something slightly bigger than a 6 in screen, but I'd certainly watch it again.

It should be on Blu-ray soon!

I wouldn't put it down as a film that would need to be seen in HD. The effects aren't exactly state of the art. It is all about mood, dialogue and a very well-written story. Who cares if you can see the hairs in Sam Rockwell's nose?

Haven't seen Moon yet. I only saw Sunshine for the first time last night. It was good enough if you can ignore the scientific inaccuracies. I'll probably see Moon in 3 years when its on TV unless one of my friends burns it on a DVD for me in the meantime.

Effects schmeffects. I love HD for being able to make out the expressions of the actors in mid range shots and the nuances and details of the sets. This film looks great in Blu Ray.

That said, I loved the oldschool effects.

I love special effects, and they can make or break some films. It depends on the type of film. Some may think that would be the case with this, being a sci-fi film. It's raw, and it's the acting and directing that really pulls you in. Some of the effects are pretty bad (and some are great), and there are countless flaws (don't get me started on the artificial gravity)... but it's a powerhouse performance that makes it one of the most enjoyable films I've seen in a while. Sam was shit hot.

I'm a cheapskate, so I'm still waiting for the DVD to come down in price. It's £6.90 but I don't usually spend more than a fiver on a DVD. I'm also waiting for Antichrist to come down. And An Education.

I'd be fine with watching the DVD but I'd prefer watching it on Blu-Ray because it's available and I do have a choice.

Don't buy antichrist on bluray, it was graphic enough to see Willem defoe cum blood on a cinema screen, I shudder at the though of seeing it in HD
