Sharia law

Post by Rum » Sun Nov 22, 2009 7:59 am

Not sure this is 'atheism and religion' but it will do.

Did you know that Sharia law insists that two female witnesses are the equivalent of one male witness? So for every male witness you bring forward to testify you have to produce two women with an opposing point of view.

Bastards.

It's perfectly logical, innit? Wimmens don't have them sometimes dangly, sometimes protruding things 'tween their legs. Their protruding/dangly things are ridiculously positioned on their chests, of all places. Location, location, location.

The logic provided by the idiot twat I was listening to on the radio this morning (on Sunday - Radio 4s religious programme) was that women are so busy with domestic tasks and children that it is easy for them to forget details. :ddpan:

I almost threw a dog at the radio I was so angry at the sheer ignorance of such people. :nono:

That's not so different from the fucked up "logic" that ruled the US up until the 50s or so... :nono:

Another explanation I've heard is that women are emotional and illogical, so you need at least two of them to confirm each other's story. Yet another way religion denigrates women.

Makes perfect sense to me. They also have shopping and talking on the phone to think about :dono:
Outside the ordered universe is that amorphous blight of nethermost confusion which blasphemes and bubbles at the center of all infinity—the boundless daemon sultan Azathoth, whose name no lips dare speak aloud, and who gnaws hungrily in inconceivable, unlighted chambers beyond time and space amidst the muffled, maddening beating of vile drums and the thin monotonous whine of accursed flutes.

It's worse than that. Women are worth only half that of men full stop. So for example when it comes to inheritance time, as a female, you'll only receive half that of your male counterparts . . . If you get anything at all.

And yet despite being only worth half that of a male, women are twice as culpable as men are for sexual "crimes". Funny old (Islamic) world ain't it? :tea:

Udderly ridiculous! Only two women are the equal of one man?! Since when have men held such little value? :nono:
People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.

But those letters are not silent.

They're just waiting their turn.

The rules for blood money, (compensation to the family of a murder victim), follow the same standard - women are worth half that of a man.

I don't know if it's the time period I grew up in, the relatively liberal area in which I grew up, the fact that I was raised by my mum, or a combination of all of the above. But I've always considered men and women intellectual equals. How could they not be? Funny, too, that women are often described as emotional and unstable, since women are often the more sensible and compassionate of the lot!
One of the supervisors at work breaks two stereotypes. She's Polish* and she's a woman, and yet she's the smartest and most competent supervisor in the whole shop. I love her, and wish she could clone herself!

*For some reason, in the U.S., poles are viewed as imbeciles.
