ALL the players are that size in professional football. And the backs are bigger.
When they tackle you, they mean to stop you advancing and take the ball off you - if you don't have the ball, they won't tackle you at all - once you lose the ball, they let you go. Rugby is a game that combines equal parts physical strength and great skill. American hand-egg is just ritualised violence. :Erasb:
I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure that's an ignorant remark. There are rules in professional football as to when and how you can tackle. Penalties for violation are fairly harsh. And I hear the play trees in planning the game are truly manifold. Also, (experts, correct me if I'm wrong) you can't take the ball in professional football unless the ball carrier drops it. The idea is to stop the forward motion of the ball. That's why they hit so hard, because when the ball carrier goes down, play stops and the ball is marked for the next play. A recovered fumble is icing on the cake.
Oh, I wouldn't say you aren't an expert in ignorant remarks at all...

JOKE!!!

I was being facetious in my last post, basing my comparison upon your boasts about the size and aggression of American footballers. Frankly, the fact that I guy wants to kill the opposition is no mark of a sportsman in my book, which is the point I was trying to get across. I don't really believe there is no skill in the game - but neither do I believe your 'ignorant remarks' about the players homicidal motivation.

Those remarks were not to be taken literally.
"Her eye was on the sparrow. Her mind was on the dove,
But no one cared and no one dared to speak to her of love.
Her eyes are always hooded. Her claws are sharp as steel.
We teach her not to see too much. We teach her not to feel."

I'd like to have Moderator powers for this thread only just so I can ban anyone who denies or even hints at criticism of the sheer awesomeness that is football*.

*And in this thread, it's just called football. Not American Football. And certainly not Hand-Egg, lest ye desire a linebacker-like tackle from me.

I'd take that if it would get you over to the UK for a meet up!

Okay. What the FUCK has happened to my Washington? I know I haven't followed them actively for a while, but BOTTOM OF THE NFC EAST????

Oh by the way. I have a browser that enables me to access TV like I was in the US. Where do I catch the Dallas game online?
