The Pope was today knocked down at the start of Christmas mass by a woman who hopped over the barriers. The woman was said to be, "Mentally unstable."

Which is probably why she went unnoticed among a crowd of Christians.

I don't know who put New Mexico State on the Buckeyes' schedule, but it was a disgusting mismatch. The Buckeyes were 44-point favorites.
They won 45-0.

The US Naval Academy upset Notre Dame yesterday. I'm honestly happier to see the Irish lose than the Middies win.

Oh, and the Buckeyes soundly beat Penn State in Happy Valley yesterday too. 8-)
Awesomeness.

Are you surprised that they're still unbeaten or that they barely got past Houston yesterday?

That they're still getting paid. I guess they get money for living in the middle of flat.

I don't give a rat's ass about football or any team sport, but I'm an American patriot, damn it. Listen:

The average professional football player stands 6'3" and weighs 300 pounds. When he hits you, he means to put you in the hospital. Some of them mean to put you in the graveyard. I'd like to see a rugby team take the field with a professional football team, padded or unpadded. The groundskeepers would come out after the game with a high-pressure hose to wash the rugby guys out of the AstroTurf.

Rugby players (both codes) come in all shapes and sizes, according to the role they play in the team but the forwards are comparable in size to your players. When they tackle you, they mean to stop you advancing and take the ball off you - if you don't have the ball, they won't tackle you at all - once you lose the ball, they let you go. Rugby is a game that combines equal parts physical strength and great skill. American hand-egg is just ritualised violence. :Erasb:

They are kicking some ass! I'm not surprised though. The game against Houston just shows that they're humans, not super heroes! :hehe:

ALL the players are that size in professional football. And the backs are bigger.

I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure that's an ignorant remark. There are rules in professional football as to when and how you can tackle. Penalties for violation are fairly harsh. And I hear the play trees in planning the game are truly manifold. Also, (experts, correct me if I'm wrong) you can't take the ball in professional football unless the ball carrier drops it. The idea is to stop the forward motion of the ball. That's why they hit so hard, because when the ball carrier goes down, play stops and the ball is marked for the next play. A recovered fumble is icing on the cake.
