Memories. Gone forever.

Post by Deep Sea Isopod » Sun Nov 08, 2009 10:26 pm

We all know someone who has died, but do we know their memories?
What happens to all those memories? They die with the person.
Atheism is a curse, not a religion.
Happy times.... Moments of joy. We all have them, but none of us can really pass on that snapshot of happiness or laughter. A day at the beach with our loved ones, can only be viewed by your own mind, no one else's.
When you die it will die with you. You cannot write it all down or say it to your friends.
We hear all the stories, but we were never there to experience what that person experienced.

Those memories are gone, and they're gone forever. :(

And sometimes they go before we do. If ever there was evidence of our transience, that's it.

Atheism has nothing to do with the fact that the memories are gone. We have our own memories until we die. Then nothing. I'm pleased I lived at all, I'm not complaining that what I got ain't good enough.

Consider the alternative and what we have is pretty great!

It's why the pick of the crop should be told. I remember a lot of people from their memories that they shared - some people pray, some tell stories.
"Whatever it is, it spits and it goes 'WAAARGHHHHHHHH' - that's probably enough to suggest you shouldn't argue with it." Mousy.

That's the point I'm trying to make.
We can all take a photo, but there are photo's in our mind that will never be shared, or will last.

But that's not atheism's fault. That's just what happens. It is just that atheists realize this.

Yes, I know that, but a religionist will believe those memories will last forever. That has an appeal to me, but as an atheist I know it's not so. That's why I say it's a curse. Living a life that ends when we die!

The illusion of survival is all they have, and they have all the baggage that goes with that delusion. Abraham would have snuffed Isaac in the name of that delusion. Whence Isaac's memories then?

A life with an end only seems pointless IF you think it needs a point .....We can see pictures in the ink blots but they are not there ,just ink blots no pics no meaning .The fun does not become less fun because it will end leaving nothing behind But because it will end.

Religionists also believe in and are fearful of the wrath of their silly god(s). It's not like their ignorance is bliss.

They may tell you the stories, but you don't see what they see.
That is what art is for. That is why people paint pictures, make music, write books and poetry, sculpt and dance. They are all trying to show you what they see, what they feel, their own unique perspective on the world. We are all alone but some of us try building bridges - however flimsy and inadequate.
