I haven't found the source book yet, that info was from the latest Skeptic issue.Pappa wrote:Does it have figures for Christians and Muslims too?Gawdzilla wrote:For every Buddhist, there are 2 atheists.

I am skeptical about those numbers. Need more sauces.
"The fact is that far more crime and child abuse has been committed by zealots in the name of God, Jesus and Mohammed than has ever been committed in the name of Satan. Many people don't like that statement but few can argue with it."

They probably count a lot of the Chinese in that number - and all of the north Koreans. Big pinch of salt required in any of those lists.Thinking Aloud wrote:That's more than I'd have thought for atheists/agnostics/etc.

Re: Atheist numbers...
No-one asked me!! There's at least one atheist missing from the list!
But other than that, what worries me more is that the Skeptic mag left off the 2 biggest faiths (according to XC's figures). I'm thinking the figures reproduced were selected on the basis that they showed more atheists than believers of a given religion - I don't like that. Cherry picking from numbers might be as popular as having a poo but sod it, I lose interest when it's so blatant and unnecessary. It's not a good way to compare either, people who believe are subdivided, atheists are not - mind you at this rate atheists will be too!

Skeptic got it's number from that article. It's worth a read, IMHO.floppit wrote:No-one asked me!! There's at least one atheist missing from the list!
