There's a footnote where RD goes one about Beijing v. Peking (again
), but where he also reveals that he's a fan of the Grumpy Old Men TV series, and discusses what he'd say if he were on it. Now there's an image.

You know the worst part of it, guys - and particularly Ani: he's going to be in MANCHESTER discussing the book on the 23rd of this month.
Look: http://c0116801.cdn.cloudfiles.rackspac ... sement.jpg
Now - if only we'd fucking known that back when the Manc meet-up was being arranged - we could have all congregated and met RD, and hear him discussing this book. And I could have saved some money and time on journeys and stuff.

Then they for sudden joy did weep,
And I for sorrow sung,
That such a king should play bo-peep,
And go the fools among.
Prithee, nuncle, keep a schoolmaster that can teach
thy fool to lie: I would fain learn to lie.
