Founders Trilogy
Foundry SIde, Shorefall ( in progress ) and Locklands to come
A Brief Review of Robert Jackson Bennett's Founders Trilogy (Foundryside, Shorefall, Locklands)
The bottom line up front: I thought that this was a great series, but only if readers are willing to tolerate very significant tonal shifts from each book to the next. I thought that the writing quality improved significantly from book to book, as did the author's engagement with the central ethical themes of the trilogy. I'd give the series a 4/5. I felt as though this series had many similar plot beats and themes to Mistborn (a series which I'm personally lukewarm on, although I liked it when I first read it), and fans of that series should definitely read the Founders series

Been reading books on AI. On my third one in the last month. Some of the more popular ones have like 40 holds on them at the library.
Sent from my penis using wankertalk.
"The Western world is fucking awesome because of mostly white men" - DaveDodo007.
"Socialized medicine is just exactly as morally defensible as gassing and cooking Jews" - Seth. Yes, he really did say that..
"Seth you are a boon to this community" - Cunt.
"I am seriously thinking of going on a spree killing" - Svartalf.

It was not really readable. People doing endless office or programming jobs all day might get something out of it.
Back to my other AI book. The anti-AI nook. Extractive is a word used in every chapter.

Of Monsters and Mainframes, Joe's sci fi book somewhere in here
I reviewed it
I don't read much fiction. Recently went through some factual books on AI and stumbled on this.
There is a plot and you can guess the course of the next iteration after about thre disasters. But then it gets complicated.
There is a bit of truth in the dealings of Demeter, as presented to us. She can't do much other than run the ship and many aspects are listed in the story. What does it mean when the ship has no passengers and the CO2 levels go up in the air handling that is turned off?
From all this we learn what will be our role when AI takes over most routine things like banking in developed countires. We will be the sensors of the world. We input with our eyes and ears what we gather is happening among humans. We speak human and gather much more from body language than AI ever can. We will be the interpreters of the world.

How to stay relevant? Sabotage the AI!

Well we have kids. The AI that is running the things won't get everything right away. its senses are a bit weak. And it won't understand all the input from humans. It will need humans who speak human to interpret behavior for its uses. Which will be other humans somewhere. We will be stuck spying on each other.

That’s bleak. Are there no other options? Flattery 2.0 ends humanity…
