Israeli Army spokesperson Effie Defrin similarly told NPR on July 27 that photos showing dire conditions in Gaza are part of a campaign distributed by Hamas to create "an image of starvation, which doesn’t exist." ...

Bibi says he's going to clear Gaza city of Palestinians, and then hand the bomb site over to Arab states to administer. The first part is ethnic cleansing, and the second part is pure fantasy - but I guess that's just the price of keeping his hard-line far-right parnters in the coalition.

It's from the Tanakh (Hebrew holy book). The Amalekites were a people with whom the Israelites came into conflict. YHVH decreed that they be blotted out in retribution for their transgressions against the chosen people and according to the book's telling, so they were--man, woman, and child.

I once asked some JWs that came a-knocking what they thought the psychological impact might be on Israelite soldiers who had to dash out the brains of Amalekite babies against a wall or slit the throats of screaming toddlers. Basically, they seemed to think that the Israelites would have been filled with joy at doing the holy work of the Lord, and that they were saving the innocents from the Amalekite's barbaric practice of human sacrifices.
