Re: American Politics from 2019 on
Aside from Trump and MAGA, the issue of deporation, visas etc. will be a political item for several presidential cycles (if we have elections). Almost nobody comes to Nebraska to study very exotic subjects. We had some classes in English that touched on critical race theory and some professors had to adjust to university regents. But I am jus assuming that the greater part of foreign students are in more prctical fields. So far 3 have been tagged as for deportation. The story did not explain their fields of study. Probably more to do with their countries.
There is a valid reason for revoking some visas. The students are no longer studyuing, registering for maybe one class and doing some job most of the week instead. Those are valid reasons. You have to show progress toward a degree.

That's just hearsay, unless you know of some evidence presented to a court that's made a valid judgement before a judge passed a sentence? If gang fashion and gang-inspired body adornment were a legitimate excuse to defy a number of judges and the Supreme Court and have someone smuggled out of the country to serve a life sentence in a foreign megaprison then those prisons would be full of black metal aficionados and teenage girls using gansta rap to annoy daddy.
Let's be honest, if he was fair-skinned and ginger he'd be back in the US already.

Which hearsay? That he snuck in? That isn't in dispute. That he got tattoos matching MS-13? That he was picked up associating with known gang members?Brian Peacock wrote: ↑Sun Apr 20, 2025 7:58 pmThat's just hearsay, unless you know of some evidence presented to a court that's made a valid judgement before a judge passed a sentence? With not having papers, how was he feeding his family, by the way? If this is a guy so well worth defending, what do you know about his life, other than that he was illegally in the country?

Taking it on faith that it was Garcia's wife that manipulated previously released photos rather than the Trump administration releasing a manipulated photo. They're so much more worthy of trust than just about anybody. Most trustworthy administration ever! Also, if Mr Ngo says so, it must be true.
[C]ritics of the president said that the symbols did not necessarily align with MS-13 insignia, and pointed out that members of the gang frequently use the actual letters rather than metaphorical symbols.
"Trump just posted this himself as proof that Kilmar Abrego Garcia is a member of MS-13," one response on X said. "Presumably it's a tattoo on Garcia's hand that's code for MS-13. Except the gang is famous for literally tattooing MS-13 all over their bodies. Trump is getting desperate."
Other viewers claimed that the White House had altered the photos, with one reply reading: "Trump and these creeps are posting a photoshopped image of fake tattoos on Kilmar Abrego Garcia's hand that say 'MS-13.' Probably not something you'd do if you had any actual evidence that he was in the gang. They are completely and totally desperate."
Supporters of the president highlighted that the picture was different to images of Abrego Garcia shared by his wife on social media, with some suggesting that she had edited the tattoos out to garner more sympathy.
Andy Ngo, a pro-Trump journalist, said: "Abrego Garcia's wife, Jennifer Vasquez Sura, has strategically censored her partner's left hand in the photo she uploaded on her TikTok to promote her GoFundMe."

Does Harvard have something to hold over Trump & Co's heads?
Harvard University received an emailed letter from the Trump administration last Friday that included a series of demands about hiring, admissions and curriculum so onerous that school officials decided they had no choice but to take on the White House.
The university announced its intentions on Monday, setting off a tectonic battle between one of the country’s most prestigious universities and a U.S. president. Then, almost immediately, came a frantic call from a Trump official.
The April 11 letter from the White House’s task force on antisemitism, this official told Harvard, should not have been sent and was “unauthorized,” two people familiar with the matter said.
The letter was sent by the acting general counsel of the Department of Health and Human Services, Sean Keveney, according to three other people, who were briefed on the matter. Mr. Keveney is a member of the antisemitism task force.
It is unclear what prompted the letter to be sent last Friday. Its content was authentic, the three people said, but there were differing accounts inside the administration of how it had been mishandled. Some people at the White House believed it had been sent prematurely, according to the three people, who requested anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly about internal discussions. Others in the administration thought it had been meant to be circulated among the task force members rather than sent to Harvard.
But its timing was consequential. The letter arrived when Harvard officials believed they could still avert a confrontation with President Trump. Over the previous two weeks, Harvard and the task force had engaged in a dialogue. But the letter’s demands were so extreme that Harvard concluded that a deal would ultimately be impossible.
After Harvard publicly repudiated the demands, the Trump administration raised the pressure, freezing billions in federal funding to the school and warning that its tax-exempt status was in jeopardy.
A senior White House official said the administration stood by the letter, calling the university’s decision to publicly rebuff the administration overblown and blaming Harvard for not continuing discussions.
“It was malpractice on the side of Harvard’s lawyers not to pick up the phone and call the members of the antisemitism task force who they had been talking to for weeks,” said May Mailman, the White House senior policy strategist. “Instead, Harvard went on a victimhood campaign.”

I guess we'll see if justice means equal application of the law, or something else...God in his infinite wisdom has given us the gift of the ages. That is the crimes of NYAG Letitia James. She must be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. She must be made to wear the orange jumpsuit. The stakes are enormous. In this one case we can highlight black collar crime (don't use without permission lol), court fraud, Trump vindication, her fraudulant personal political career, permissive AGs, mortgage fraud, ect. The Left will squeal like stuck pigs in her defense. But that is an upside. We go the Senator from NJ (a cuban) and we can get her. She will be tougher as the crimes are smaller. It will be perceived as retaliation but so will every case we bring. This is a test case people. We must drive a stake through her fat diabetic corrupt heart. The message it will send could last for a decade. As a federal case I think it can be moved out of NY and down to Louisiana if needed. I will check with Barnes as this is federal mortgage fraud. If Blondi doesn't have the stomach for it let's get her outta there and find someone who will. As I said, this is a gift from God.

They had lawyers, trials, most were given pretrial release, allowed to testify in their own defense, got discovery, could call witnesses, could cross-examine witnesses, could present mitigation at sentencing, and had a right to appeal.

The Trump base of haters is even smaller. Trump got "eggs are too expensive" voters and strange Michigan Muslims on his side. But his popular vote margin was smaller the one Nixon won by.Svartalf wrote: ↑Mon Apr 21, 2025 3:51 pmwell, it's not that wrong... dems are kind of lost away from their base and ideology, they've become infeodated to their capitalist financersTero wrote: ↑Mon Apr 21, 2025 12:01 pmYoug voter: "Republicans are bad. well, I don't know if his real base is only the haters, but he sure seems to have federated all the morons behind him, and that was enough for him to win again.
