The US is pathetic.
the US, or just frump and his clique?
Pathetic is the wrong word, Machiavellian is better. We can bitch and moan, or worse try to understand how the US suddenly can’t see the absurdity—the cruelty—of demanding elections in Ukraine, or accept what the situation clearly says: we likely regret our decision to help Ukraine to the extent we have and it needs to be somebody else’s problem yesterday.
The latest fad is a poverty social. Every woman must wear calico,
and every man his old clothes. In addition each is fined 25 cents if
he or she does not have a patch on his or her clothing. If these
parties become a regular thing, says an exchange, won't there be
a good chance for newspaper men to shine?

Trump just makes it worse. All he's thinking about is how much he can milk out of the situation. Fuck Ukraine.

trump is up and ranting and raving at Zelinskyy, calling him a dictator whose only skill was manipulating Biden:
Zelenskyy admits that half of the money we sent him is “MISSING.” He refuses to have Elections, is very low in Ukrainian Polls, and the only thing he was good at was playing Biden “like a fiddle.” A Dictator without Elections, Zelenskyy better move fast or he is not going to have a Country left.

Does have a point. How often the victim is to blame for being weak and giving his nukes away?

Prince Trump is a genius :{D

He wakes up one morning and thinks, "What do I have to say to get those lazy dumb cheap NATO allies to wake up and fund their defense commitment?" :thinks:

What's NATO doing now? Panicking that they have to fund their defense commitment. Trump tried asking NATO during his first term and it didn't work. So now he has to trick them like children :fp:

The EU countries do have standing armies and pretty good defense. Putin would fail if he has to open another front. Once Trump gives Ukraine to Putin, he will take the Baltic countries. Watch NATO at work then.

Finland is safe, other than Putin has to keep some troops there on the SE corner of Finland border too. But Putin is not the Soviet Union. They have no willpower or a Stalin to send the men to prison camp if they do not fight. Putin is losing his people.

which ones? France has a nice submarine force, and even a single aircraft carrier, but let's face it, our army is tiny, even by standards of an all professional force, and we are so well equipped that the army's supplies would run out in about a fortnight in case of active hostilities...

Finland has 870 000 personnel in reserve. All males to a certain age. Young men that are too fat were rejected and did civil service.

Russia could round up a few hundred thousand on the Finnish border. But as soon as they cross on the Finnish side, the Russian soldiers would all apply for assylum.

Orpo wants a 50 billion euro aid package for Ukraine from the EU quickly
Prime Minister Petteri Orpo (Kok) wants the EU to quickly agree on a military aid package worth around 50 billion euros for Ukraine. According to Orpo, the EU is currently Ukraine's largest supporter, but it must be able to do more.

"Now is the time for decisions," Orpo insisted at a press conference in Helsinki with EU Commission Vice-President Henna Virkkunen (Kok).

Virkkunen is currently visiting Helsinki with the EU Commissioners who report to him.

According to Virkkunen, the EU Commission is currently looking for ways to support Ukraine together with the member states. According to Virkkunen, non-EU NATO countries are also involved in the discussion.

"So far, the European Union has been the most significant supporter of Ukraine. 135 billion has been the support so far, and now a major continuation of this is being sought to ensure that Ukraine is as strong as possible in warfare," Virkkunen said.

According to Virkkunen, the goal is to get Russia to withdraw from Ukrainian territory.

Finnish ex-president interprets Trump
https://www.iltalehti.fi/ulkomaat/a/07a ... 756949bce6
Niinistö tells Channel 4 that he does not believe Trump has “any specific plan” regarding Ukraine. Last week, Niinistö also assessed in an interview with Helsingin Sanomat that the Trump administration is trying to create a kind of “broad path” through conflicting outputs.
He is asked what would happen if Russia attacked, for example, the Baltic countries.

On British television, Niinistö says that he believes the president's recent, extraordinary speeches are due to Zelensky's previous criticism of Trump.

– He responds aggressively to anyone who criticizes him, Niinistö describes Trump.

– In that situation, all NATO countries would be on the front lines. It wouldn't end in the Baltics. It would be World War III or something similar, Niinistö replies.

The timetable for the actual peace talks in Ukraine is still unclear. President Niinistö tells Channel 4 that he hopes peace will come this year. In the same breath, he emphasizes that Ukraine needs security guarantees, in which both the United States and Europe have a role.
– I don't see it happening, but if Putin did something in the Baltics, this would be the result.

At the end of the interview, Niinistö assessed that the world is in a "hot war" - meaning that the situation is even more dangerous than during the Cold War.
