Trump fails to pass law to shoot illegals suspected of crime.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The House on Wednesday gave final approval to a bill that requires the detainment of unauthorized immigrants accused of theft and violent crimes, marking the first legislation that President Donald Trump can sign as Congress, with some bipartisan support, swiftly moved in line with his plans to crackdown on illegal immigration.
Still, the bill would require a massive ramp-up in U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s capabilities, but does not include any new funding.

Trump's tax plan has been released. It appears that most Americans won’t benefit from it. I’m not surprised—we’ve seen this before. He wants to allocate these annual tax cuts:
- $48 billion to the Fortune 100
- $4.1 billion to Wall Street banks
- $3.2 billion to pharmaceutical companies
- $2.5 billion to oil companies
His plan may result in a $5,000 tax increase for workers, while billionaires receive tax cuts. Yet so many average Americans insist they are better off under Trump.

It’s surreal, money is over the moon at Davos about US prospects now that Trump has won. But all the strength they’re pointing to happened under Biden. To me that signals that it’s not “the economy” they’re excited about. The economy has obviously managed to do well despite all the things they’re looking to see changed.

So, given that, if there have been any real benefits to the people from the slightly less business friendly environment, and business still did well, why should Washington abandon any of the people friendly policies in favor of business?

Hasn't said much about Canada. He's gonna invade. That's gonna happen. Can tell a lot about folks by what they don't say. Talk about Mexico, credible misdirection. Still happen. But the real target is not Greenland. It's the Canadian wheatbelt.

Trump all set to order California water around. Even though it is not the Mississippi or Missouri. Which have federal control. What is this “valve” that Trump wants turned back to Los Angeles? No idea.

“You have millions of gallons of water pouring down from the north, with the snow caps and Canada, and all pouring down,” Trump said just an hour into the press conference. “And they have, essentially, a very large faucet, and you turn the faucet, and it takes one day to turn, and it’s massive … and you turn that, and all of that water goes aimlessly into the Pacific. And if you turned it back, all of that water would come right down here and right into Los Angeles.”

Trump said he wants to issue an executive order forcing California to let the water come down through the state instead of throwing it into the ocean.

Governor Newsom has since issued a statement saying that Trump is either unaware of how water is stored in California or he’s intentionally misleading the public.

The speck of truth that’s triggered Trump is the controversy surround the delta smelt (details on Wikipedia). In summary, in order to protect this endangered species, the U.S. federal government and the state of California are court-ordered to keep the waters levels in the NorCal delta above some minimum level. That is, allow some water to flow to the ocean without being diverted for direct human use.

The governor of California is as responsible for this as the president of U.S., which is to say not at all. It’s already litigated. It is also a tiny amount of water, which would have little impact on the current dry conditions in SoCal.

Trump for first time talks to international venue about making Canada a state

Donald Trump for the first time used an international venue on Thursday for his eye-popping suggestion that the U.S. gain an additional state: Canada.

In his first global event since becoming U.S. president earlier this week, Trump spoke by video link to the Davos economic forum in Switzerland.

His speech and ensuing question-and-answer session offered an early example of the squeezing of various allies predicted for his presidency.

What was less predicted, until recently, was the intensity of that squeezing, the frequency of his focus on Canada, and his rhetorical swipes at its sovereignty.
