I have a suspicion as to why Homo sapiens has a propensity for becoming attached to a belief system (MAGA, religion, orthodox marxism etc.) even in the face of contrary evidence. In a simpler tribal world, to vacillate because of thinking through the pros and cons of a belief system already adopted by significant numbers of the tribe would be potentially contra survival. There may well be a tendency within our cognitive systems (with their background structure derived from natural selection) to lock into a communal belief system come what may...

Good ad from Biden highlighting Trump's mental decline.

Wishful thinking:
"It only takes a fraction of DeSantis voters switching to Haley and then to Biden when Haley drops out to move the total in Biden's favor."

But yes, Biden will get at least one state by that switch.

I had similar thoughts on some voters. They do not actually have much of a political mind and will go any direction, based on the preference that their social group has: motor cycle gang, bankers, golfers, evangelicals. Mormons.

I want to know why they can't stop the drift, why do so many keep going further to the right? It happens on the left too, of course. Why?

It would be interesting to find somebody similar to Trump from 30+ years ago and look at Republican opinions of him at the time...wait, you could probably just do that with Trump, and it wouldn't need to be so long ago either! :hehe:

We used to have forts and won wars! We got rid of forts!
The Fort Benning referenced by Trump was named for Henry L. Benning, who NPR noted was not just a Confederate general but a “virulent white supremacist.”

It was renamed Fort Moore last year in honor of Lt. Gen. Hal Moore and his wife, Julia Compton Moore, who Military.com called “one of the Army’s most influential couples.”

cringeworthy words: Trump and energy
"GOP senators say there is less enthusiasm for former President Trump among Republican-leaning voters compared to 2016, a drop in voter energy that was apparent when only 15 percent of Iowa’s registered Republicans showed up for Monday’s caucuses."

Clearly rigged. "Unprocessed Write-Ins:" has 74 percent of the vote in the Democratic primary! :lay:

I think even his speeches are going all over the place:
"A bitter and confused-sounding Trump spends his New Hampshire victory speech shouting 2020 election conspiracy theories and lies."

Trump's victory speech is mostly trashing other people. I think he was really mad at Nikki getting over 40%.

Millions and millions of illegals are coming. You would think they are women and children. But no, they are prisoners, menatlly ill and drug dealers. Millions of them!
