The Republicans apparently decided he was doing more harm to their party with his blatant corruption than he was helping them with his vote in Congress. They're not against corruption per se given who their leader is, but there are practical considerations and Santos was expendable in the end.

is 'Christofascist' what they call themselves? Or what you call them?
Re: Republicans: continued
Given that they could end up with a Democratic representative from that district, narrowing their already slim majority, his corruption must have been really painful for them.L'Emmerdeur wrote: ↑Fri Dec 01, 2023 3:50 pmThe Republicans apparently decided he was doing more harm to their party with his blatant corruption than he was helping them with his vote in Congress. I think enough of them realized that their votes to defend him would hurt them in 2024 and 2026 if he's convicted.Joe wrote: ↑Fri Dec 01, 2023 4:30 pmGiven that they could end up with a Democratic representative from that district, narrowing their already slim majority, his corruption must have been really painful for them.L'Emmerdeur wrote: ↑Fri Dec 01, 2023 3:50 pmThe Republicans apparently decided he was doing more harm to their party with his blatant corruption than he was helping them with his vote in Congress. What do you call them, Cunt? Are you happy to be in the same bed as those who want a Christian state, or are you an AINO?
Nurse, where the fuck's my cardigan?
And my gin!
And my gin!

If you call someone that, it might mean you feel a certain way about them. If they self-identify as that, it means something different.
I thought self-identity was respected, so I was checking if it was worth respecting the designation.

So if you get elected governor you don't have to actually turn up for work?

You seem OK with defending the far-right, authoritarian, evangelical tendency in the Republican party. Are you?

Re: Republicans: continued
It's a perfectly coherent description that tallies with dominionist theory and practice. Dominionists seek to impose a kind of Christian Caliphate, where all public bodies are stewarded by religious leaders and organised and run according to strict religious principles. Think of Christian Sharia and you'll be getting the idea.

I'll wait for you to answer the question I asked, rather than to deliver a sermon in defense of...something.Brian Peacock wrote: ↑Fri Dec 01, 2023 8:22 pmIt's a perfectly coherent description that tallies with dominionist theory and practice.
