When the story of the 80+ year old man shooting a black child for ringing his doorbell first came out, I avoided mentioning the idea that he might be a Fox News viewer. It certainly crossed my mind though. I don't think many people will find this surprising--

Ludwig said his grandfather had "racist tendencies" and would say "weird, racist" things while also espousing conspiracy theories.

"I feel like a lot of people of that generation are caught up in this a 24-hour news cycle of fear and paranoia perpetuated by some other news stations," he said. "He was fully into that, he'd watch Fox News all day, every day, blaring in his living room. And I think that stuff really kind of reinforces this negative view of minority groups and... it doesn't necessarily lead people to be racist, but it reinforces and galvanizes racist people and their beliefs."

Ludwig went on to elaborate that Lester believed in election-denying conspiracy theories while also believing some "very weird" things about Dr. Anthony Fauci.

Blindsided.....the tribe has spoken

It appears that many at Fox – including Carlson himself – had no inclination that Friday would be his last show.

Fox was still previewing Carlson’s show Monday morning, with the network teasing an interview between the departed host and Vivek Ramaswamy, an entrepreneur and 2024 US presidential candidate.

For what will be his last show with Fox, Carlson hosted Tyler Morrell from Cocco’s Pizza in Pennsylvania for his show last Friday. Morrell went viral after doorbell camera video showed him helping police catch a suspected car thief while on a delivery.

While chowing down on pizza pies delivered to him by Morrell, Carlson wished viewers a happy weekend before signing off.

“We’ll be back on Monday,” Carlson said.

The Grauniad has apparently aspired to malapropisms, not being content with mere typos. 'Had no inclination that Friday would be his last show' should have been caught by an editor or proof-reader.

As for Carlson, he can run for a seat in the US Senate now.

Had to think about that one. I see what you're saying. The well-fed American guy with the perpetual dismayed 'what the fuck' look on his face.

Beyond the visual though, the Carlson act is more obviously an act, while I think Forty Two is pretty sincere in his skewing of events to fit his narrative. I think he genuinely supports Trump and believes that he accomplished significant things. It's possible that his opinion has changed, but I wouldn't bet on it. On the other hand Carlson secretly despised Trump while blathering out Trumpist propaganda. Carlson knows that he's telling outrageous lies.

I'd love it if he came back. I don't have it in me anymore to argue endlessly, but it would be a fucking laugh watching him reinvent reality post after post. What can you do but revel in the absurdity of it?

Those people on Fox were pretty much tapped, once they had gone full Trump. Carlson and all. There was no way out of it. They had to ride it to the end of the Trump term.

There was a gay guy running the Fox news (mostly real items) desk at 3PM, so they could keep the "red meat" trumpian news for 6PM. I suspect 42 is still watching it every day.
