Even before he took over Twitter, Elon Musk caused controversy with messages on the short message service. According to his own statements, he has been campaigning for freedom of expression on the platform since October and has blocked, right-wing accounts unlocked again. Now the tech billionaire is taking on immunologist Anthony Fauci. A hate figure among US right-wingers and corona deniers.

In the past few hours, Musk has published two tweets dealing with the outgoing US chief virologist. Right-wing Twitter users – including Republican politicians – celebrate him for it.

"My pronouns are Prosecute/Fauci," Musk tweeted Sunday. He previously posted a meme - a "funny" internet pic - of a submissive Fauci whispering to a Lord of the Rings character with the face of US President Joe Biden: "Just one more lockdown, my king". A picture that conservative author Beneful Johnson shared on his Twitter profile in January.

The US chief virologist lied to Congress about the corona virus, Musk continues his tweets. Fauci himself had defended himself against these allegations in the summer of 2021. Musk's renewed allegations quickly reached more than a million Twitter users.

The likes broke the one million mark - retweets total more than 200,000. Trump supporter and Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene replied to Musk, "I confirm your pronouns, Elon."

Musk called Corona rules "fascist"
Musk's views on Corona are not new. As early as April 2020, he called the corona measures in the US state of California “fascist” and called for easing. At that time, the production of his electric car company Tesla was idle.

Other commenters accused Musk of mocking transgender and non-binary people, in addition to contempt for the public health official and inciting far-right trolls.

'Twitter suspends journalists who have been covering Elon Musk and the company'

Twitter on Thursday evening suddenly suspended several high-profile journalists who cover the platform and Elon Musk, one of the richest people in the world, who acquired the company just a few months ago.

Hours after the suspensions took hold, Musk faced off with one of the journalists he suspended in a Twitter Space audio discussion before an audience of more than 30,000 listeners. The suspended journalist, along with several others, found a backdoor way onto the platform through the website's audio function.

“You doxx, you get suspended. End of story. That's it,” Musk said, explaining his latest policy to the group, before he left minutes after having joined the discussion.

Musk was referring to Twitter's latest rule change about accounts that track private jets, including one owned by Musk himself, which was put in place Wednesday.

The accounts of Ryan Mac of The New York Times, Donie O'Sullivan of CNN, Drew Harwell of The Washington Post, Matt Binder of Mashable, Micah Lee of The Intercept, Steve Herman of Voice of America and independent journalists Aaron Rupar, Keith Olbermann and Tony Webster had all been suspended as of Thursday evening.

The Twitter account for Mastodon, a platform billed as a Twitter alternative, was also suspended early Thursday evening. Twitter accounts operated by NBC News journalists were unable to tweet any links to Mastodon pages. Mastodon was, however, trending on Twitter.

"Criticizing me all day long is totally fine, but doxxing my real-time location and endangering my family is not," he said in another tweet.

Musk tweeted that the accounts banned Thursday posted "my exact real-time location, basically assassination coordinates, in (obvious) direct violation of Twitter terms of service." NBC News was unable to verify that allegation.

Musk later added that the suspensions would last seven days.

In early November, shortly after having taken control of Twitter, Musk tweeted that he would not ban the account that tracked his jet.

He had earlier put up a poll with a variety of options, asking whether or when he should reinstate the journalists’ accounts. When a plurality of respondents voted to restore the accounts immediately, he deleted the poll and started a new one with fewer options.

He has reason to be extra careful to make his flight info private. He DID take those steps, and some reporters doxxed him anyway.

Yes, the PIA doesn't hide it totally. Just having the first letter of the acronym say 'private' doesn't stop anyone posting anything.

But private platform and all that. Now that it IS private, I've been enjoying seeing which lies the FBI paid millions to sell on that platform.

It sure shows that it was worth millions of dollars, and many private meetings, to manage twitter behind the curtain. On behalf of the american taxpayer. Sure hope they got their moneys worth.

If you go find out who the mole was, called out by Weiss, then removed from twitter by Elon, and try to tell the story yourself, you STILL will have trouble believing it.

I don't blame you for falling for a bunch of it. It's fucking ridiculous. What do you do if it is true though? I mean, if you read Taiibi and Weiss, and whoever else uses the source documents...?

After weeks of “Twitter Files” reports, the FBI issued a statement Wednesday.

It didn’t refute allegations. Instead, it decried “conspiracy theorists” publishing “misinformation,” whose “sole aim” is to “discredit the agency.”




3. They must think us unambitious, if our “sole aim” is to discredit the FBI. After all, a whole range of government agencies discredit themselves in the #TwitterFiles. Why stop with one?

With those agencies paying to lie to everyone via twitter, I wonder if anyone is worried they fell for some paid-promo. It would sure be embarrassing at this point, to try to hold onto the lies that are falling apart.

Anyone see any lies they previously fell for there? Or were you all immune to the millions spent by one of the wealthiest nations on earth?

I've read some of the Twitter files, and see a lot of assumption making (read conspiracy theorising) as analysis. The FBI is within their remit to target psyops against the US (which Russia has admitted doing). The assumption seems to be that the FBI is a hotbed of raging lefties targeting their political enemies - the right. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. Argument from incredulity doesn't count.
