Attempting to murder a blasphemer, taking away protection of womens' right to bodily autonomy, subjugating a whole population by military force and stealing their land, all are heinous and reprehensible. Muslims, Christians and Jews self-righteously seek to impose rule of religious doctrine on the world to this day. They consider it their birthright--Allah/God/YHVH wills that it should be so. The Muslims often make more of a splash with crude and overt atrocities, but all of them continue to show their true nature.

Re: Rushdie Stabbed
I think that you are underestimating the effects of the enlightenment and the evolution of western societies away from a dependence on religion as a major influence on power structures. As much as christian fundamentalists may hate it, their teeth have largely been pulled, rhetoric not withstanding. They may seek to impose religious rule impotently, but in many places in the world, Islamic governments can achieve it...L'Emmerdeur wrote: ↑Mon Aug 15, 2022 5:49 amAttempting to murder a blasphemer, taking away protection of womens' right to bodily autonomy, subjugating a whole population by military force and stealing their land, all are heinous and reprehensible. Not a single doctrine or dogma of the Catholic Church has changed, let alone abolished. For instance, last I heard, the Vatican is still resolute in its condemnation of abortion, and only permits two contraceptives - the rhythm method and abstinence from sexual intercourse. Relatively enlightened governments in the western world totally ignore the Papish dicta. Starting in the 1970s even recent bulwarks of Catholic morality like Italy, Spain and Ireland have turned away from them, as did millions of people who still regard themselves members of that Christian denomination. The fangs have been well and truly pulled, although there is plenty of pushback by dominionists, especially in the USA.
No such luck for Muslims, the vast majority of whom live in feudal, theocratic countries. Their leaders have them so firmly under their thumbs that we don't even know how many of their subjects willingly believe in the Koran, care about their particular religion or simply go along with it because they are intentionally kept uneducated and/or brainwashed.

Re: Rushdie Stabbed
I had a dream Mohammad got writers block with the Q'ran. And in desperation he ate a bacon butty for inspiration knowing full well it was forbidden. And so from then on when ever he got stuck for a verse in the Q'ran he ate a bacon butty and sometimes with onions. So if my dream is true The Satanic Verses must be also be the proper name for the Q'ran.

Update on aftermath of the attack:
'Salman Rushdie lost sight in one eye following attack, agent says'
'Salman Rushdie lost sight in one eye following attack, agent says'
Salman Rushdie lost sight in one eye and the use of one hand following an attack on stage at a literary event in western New York in August, his agent said.
Andrew Wylie, who represents literary giants such as Saul Bellow and Roberto Bolano, described the extent of the injuries Rushdie suffered in the "brutal" attack in an interview with Spanish newspaper El Pais.
Wylie described the author's wounds as "profound," and noted the loss of sight of one eye. "He had three serious wounds in his neck. One hand is incapacitated because the nerves in his arm were cut. And he has about 15 more wounds in his chest and torso."
