The role of the intellectual is to preserve at all costs the idea and practice of Paradise.

That's not necessarily a disagreement, unless in some fundamental way the preservation of the idea and practise of paradise depends upon falsehoods and lies. But then, that would rather impugn any testimony about the idea and practise of paradise. Doing so, would seem, to work against the preservation of said goods.

Otherwise, in principle, an intellectual might be responsible for all four goods: preserving the idea of paradise; speaking truth; preserving the practice of paradise; and exposing lies.

So I have to ask again because you don't appear to have answered the question. Do you disagree that speaking truth and exposing lies is the responsibility of intellectuals.

I would think between the 'pro-proof-of-God' side (call them ppoGs) and the 'aint-no-proof-of-gods' (anpogs) the vigorous and lively discussions would have yielded a gem of proof.

Of course, it could be that such proof doesn't exist, but one 'side' of that discussion would have a really hard time facing it.
