Like I said, cold merely means without a title and opening theme. The viewer is not prepared for the show, he is "cold." on TV, people are used to a normal flow of events, with commercials. This breaks the routine.

I assumed you know the word "open" as far as TV show goes. The word "cold" is used in the sense "unprepared." Most people know that. What was so complicated?
