The alphabet people are probably tickled to have successfully protected weak minds. So are some others.
Going by how much of Trump's shit is available I am convinced they are not even trying.
Oh, there is no question that they are trying.
If that they had "successfully protected weak minds", they would have deleted all video recordings, quotes and transcripts of Trump's speeches, as well as Mitchell McConnell's, Tucker Carlson's and anyone else's who spouts right wing crap.
They can't though. They say they aim to, but they keep running into people who aren't complicity theorists.

It's always amusing hearing folks used to the coddling of censorship, when they are faced with real opposing opinions. It's why the media is biassed against Crowder and his 'change my mind' segments. It shows how strong those opinions are, face to face.

Yeah right, because if you want to hear good arguments against your position your best bet is to approach random strangers and college students.

He sat down with anyone who wanted to. I think he generally does a good job at presenting his 'side', and is willing to listen to opposing viewpoints.

What's the manipulation?

Do you mean the manipulation where the most vigorous proponents of ideas refuse to talk in such an open forum?

Or him having a seat open for anyone who wants to oppose him?

You claimed that the media avoided his segment because of what it revealed about the quality of opposing opinions. It's possible they avoid it --if they do, I certainly hear enough about him to doubt that-- for other reasons. I provided one such reason: the segments are presented as evidence of the weakness of opposing views. That is also the manipulation.

--//--

BTW, Crowder's segments like this aren't all bad. But they aren't news to anyone either. I'm not aware of serious thinkers from either side that don't know how misinformed the average person is. This is how any book on the subject of American voters I've ever read begins. It's common knowledge to anyone who's read or paid any attention at all to political polling. The ignorant and misinformed exist across the spectrum.

People avoid his discussion of the topics, when they could sit down and talk to him in public.

Crowders segments like this ARE bad (some of them) but the concept is pretty fucking good.

---------

The media bias seems to have let those in their care and protection get the wrong idea about reality.

Must have been an accident. Corporate media and academia couldn't be THAT malevolent, could they?

https://stubykofsky.com/how-dangerous-a ... -actually/
It is, according to a fascinating study of Americans’ attitudes by the Skeptic Research Center.

The number, reported by the liberal Washington Post, was 13. A secondary source lists the number as high as 27.

That is among the millions of police/civilian contacts each year.

Of those shot by police, the percentage of unarmed Black men is 26.7%, slightly more than one-quarter.

African-Americans account for about 13% of the population, so the number reveals a disproportionate number of Black victims, about twice as high. But there is no escaping the reality that the number is low, very low.

Reality is one thing, beliefs are another.

The Skeptic charts clearly reveal that the farther Left you are, the higher the number of victims you choose. . . Wrongly.

Nearly 60% of those calling themselves liberal or very liberal believe the number is about 1,000 — 30 times the reality of the higher number of 27. No wonder so many of them believe in defunding the police. They see an ocean of abuse when the reality is a pond.

At the other end of the scale, 90% of those calling themselves conservative or very conservative chose 10, underestimating the actual number.

Only one-third of moderates chose 10, which is the choice closest to reality. The majority picked the higher numbers.

Another media bias I've noticed, is that the only countries media describes as having systemic racism, are countries where citizens are allowed to be any race.

It's rarer to hear about the systemic racism problem in theocracies, or homogenous societies.

So 'systemic racism' is like a codeword.

The fact that systemic racism in western countries is real, and can be shown to be real, does not conflict with a variety of other reasonable, likely truths, such as:
* there are a great number of white, western people who are not racist in any way, shape or form
* non-white people can be racist in a variety of ways
* some authoritarian and/or theocratic non-western countries have systematic racism embedded in their political and social structures

Setting the record straight for Trumpist history:

'Fox News' "The Five" Says Biden Is an "Anti-Vaxxer" and Trump Was "Ahead of the Science" and Pro-Mask
Co-hosts on Fox News‘ “The Five” on Monday say President Joe Biden is an anti-vaxxer while then-President Donald Trump was “ahead of the science” and supported mask-wearing.

Both claims are provably false.

Co-host Greg Gutfeld told Fox News viewers that President Joe Biden is “definitely” doing more harm than President Donald Trump by sometimes wearing a mask in situations the CDC says is not necessary, like outdoors while being socially distant.

“Donald Trump was following the science,” on masks, Gutfeld lied, “and in fact was one step ahead of the science in a number of ways including the vaccine rollout,” which is also false. There was not actual plan to get shots into arms when the Biden administration took over in January.

“So let’s dispel that lie once and for all that Trump like ran away from masks,” Gutfeld insisted, re-writing history, suggesting Trump was in support of masks because he “went further than most people when it came to shutting down the economy, his economy, I might add that he was doing pretty great at the time.”

Trump actually fought shutting down the economy, then insisted it fully re-open for Easter, 2020, with massive numbers flooding churches. He spent much of the rest of the year demanding the economy fully re-open, despite the science. He also held several super-spreader events.

What's the point of this kind of editorialising buffoonery? Do they think it's a sensible way to encourage their vaccine-hesitant audience to get the jab, or are they just trying to save face because the audience are getting it anyway? Biden has been relentlessly banging on about mass vaccination since before day one. To call him an anti-vaxxer is a departure from reality even FOX should be concerned about! And who doesn't remember Trump relentlessly banging on about not wearing a mask, plus all the other Covid denial stuff?

The Right are always quick to invoke Orwellian comparisons to even mildly liberal ideas and policies, but the kind of gaslighting they're going in for here strikes me as the epitome of Newspeak, all the way down.

The point of propaganda (I mean actual propaganda, not what Cunt thinks is propaganda) is to obliterate the truth. Obliterate the truth, then replace it with an alternate truth in which your side are always the good guys, thus paving the way for autocracy. They can't allow ANY room for the possibility that Biden may have actually got more votes in 2020. This way, everything they are doing at the state level to rig future elections in their favor is justified.
