If government figures are not believed (by some, not all) then what alternative figures do they (or you) accept? Zero, because covid is a conspiracy? A lot less than government figures? A lot more than government figures?

Just saying not to trust the data, or don't believe the figures is a meaningless statement in itself.

What has India got to do with Europe? That country is always in a mess thanks to corruption and religion and the comparison fails totally. Burning bodies is part of the religion and probably a very healthy option and one the catholic countries should employ.

The figures for India are undoubtedly and significantly under reported. What does Covid in India have to do with Europe? For a start, we all exist within a global economy and the developing word accounts for 60% of global pharmaceutical production, and India supplies the majority of the world's generic and off-licence drugs. A failure to address Covid in India and South Asia will have real impacts for European citizens in that regard, and in many others.

But my point was that you were challenging the reality of the virus seemingly running out of control in India. You can only maintain that by disputing the basic transmissibility and lethality if the disease. Quibbling over the numbers is mostly irrelevant - particularly when your views on the numbers themselves unavoidably bankrupt your own position.

We've talked about this before: I think you're confusing normalcy for normatitivity - what you consider normal in your experience is not the standard by which all things are, or should be assessed.

My point which you totally missed was about corruption. The latest OECD figures show India received $64 billion in FDI's (Foreign Direct Investment) the third highest in the world last year. Where did it go? Corruption and all it entails is soaring and life is very cheap. One result is the number of deaths due to Covid. The country is in one disastrous mess which always has been thanks to the Brits.

My isolation is completed, I'm allowed to go interact with normal people now.

If this vaccine had cost a dollar, it wouldn't have been worth it so far. I can understand why so many people can't be bothered.

I have been feeling very tired after being vaccinated on Thursday. It does not help having Lung Fibrosis as well which has really reduced my stamina. The weather is still bloody cold for the time of year. A high pressure zone is bringing cold air from the north but when it gets warmer I will try more walking.
