I presume that you meant equality, rather than making a rather presumptuous assessment of Hermit's financial plans...

Re: Republicans: continued
Maybe you could refresh me on the difference between the two.
It looks like giving everyone an equal shot is equality, while attempting to achieve equal outcomes is equity.
Which is fine for the short half of the population, but the tall half would need to slouch.

Re: Republicans: continued
equity
NOUN
1. the quality of being fair and impartial.
"equity of treatment"
synonyms:
fairness · fair-mindedness · justness · justice · equitableness · fair play ·
2. the value of the shares issued by a company.
"he owns 62% of the group's equity"
synonyms:
value · worth · valuation · ownership · rights · proprietorship · right of possession
3. the value of a mortgaged property after deduction of charges against it.
"people who have built up a significant amount of equity in their homes"
4. (in the UK, US, and several other countries) a trade union to which all professional actors must belong.
"an Equity card"

Equality is seeing that every child has access to an education.
Equity is seeing that every child gets a diploma giving them the same qualification.
One of those things is quickly and obviously stupid. Like saying that two groups that make different choices, still should expect the same outcomes.
Different small choices in youth can create HUGE inequity later in life. That doesn't mean there was any inequality.

Re: Republicans: continued
Simply incorrect. Look at the first of my definitions:
That is what you were meaning by "equality" (seeing that every child has access to an education, as an example of equity of treatment)the quality of being fair and impartial.
"equity of treatment"
Your example (every child gets a diploma giving them the same qualification) is the fearful right-wing bullshit straw man that liberals simply want everyone to have the same outcome, no matter what.
Equity is fairness. Get it?
(Or it's the financial meaning, but I suppose you did not mean that. Although working out what you mean is not easy...)

Equity is what you want, when you look at a wide group, and declare that because women earn less on average, that there is some kind of problem.
If you believe the wage gap myth, you are probably hoping for equity, rather than equality.

The gaslighting is strong. That kind of light doesn't reflect anything useful.

I'm sorry you didn't understand what I was trying to explain about equity vs equality, but I wasn't doing any gaslighting.
If you don't get it, no problem, but looking at uneven outcomes doesn't mean there was unfairness along the way. It could be from many different things.

Use correct terms, at least, which does not include misusing the term "equity". There can be reasoned argument between those who say that equality of opportunity alone is enough to redress issues of discrimination or uneven outcomes, which I assume might be your position (but are the opportunities really equal, or only on the surface?), versus alternatives. The alternative position tends to involve the addition of various forms of deliberate bias in favour of groups in society with clearly poor outcomes in health or economic positions.Cunt wrote: ↑Tue Mar 09, 2021 7:49 amI'm sorry you didn't understand what I was trying to explain about equity vs equality, but I wasn't doing any gaslighting.

He'll clearly enjoy crushing the traitors, so that's what he'll devote his energies to. As for the party, it's his plaything now. They have asserted that they'll continue to use his image and name despite his forbidding them to do so, but they've also decided to hold part of their next shindig at Mar-a-Lago. Meanwhile, Trump is trying to starve the RNC of cash by proclaiming 'no more money for RINOs' and telling the faithful to donate to his personal PAC rather than the RNC.Tero wrote: ↑Mon Mar 08, 2021 11:17 pmTrump torn between destroying unfaithful Republicans and parting ways with GOP
