Re: Vaccine Thread (Beyond Coronavirus thread)
Nothing here. Friday is the day they do the most vaccinations. The sports arena is tied up many saturdays so no vaccinations there. Also, people with a scheduled second vaccination date have no location info yet.

Re: Vaccine Thread (Beyond Coronavirus thread)
By 'doomed' did you mean 'have nearly a 99% chance of survival?
Re: Vaccine Thread (Beyond Coronavirus thread)
I am now eligible to be vaccinated because of my COPD. All the other risks (obesity, high blood pressure and diabetes) wouldn't still make me eligible because my current values are too good.
Being eligible is one thing. Getting an appointment is another completely. In my area you have to make an appointment via a website. However, all the slots are constantly taken. I have coded a small tool that checks the site for available appointments every two minutes and then notifies me via a phone call. Got a phone call today but even though I went online to the site within less than a minute, all the appointments were already taken...

Yep, I've got a bit of the same problem. By age, I'm far too young, and my other problems only put me in a borderline limbo where the NHS won't call me to get it, at least not in the next few months. GPs just got theoretical access to the Astra Zeneca vax for their own patients, if it pans out well, I might convince my quact to let me have a shot.

Good luck, NB. Also, take someone with you.
My guess is that someone you like, is having a similar challenge, and would appreciate it.

Re: Vaccine Thread (Beyond Coronavirus thread)
You can't just take people with you. You need individual appointments for individual people.
Re: Vaccine Thread (Beyond Coronavirus thread)
Not exactly what I mean, more about helping someone qualify, or schedule their appointment.
Or just encouraging someone to keep trying. (ideally, pick an old dude, who doesn't have a lot of people)
Re: Vaccine Thread (Beyond Coronavirus thread)
I don't know people who couldn't handle everything themselves.
Re: Vaccine Thread (Beyond Coronavirus thread)
But you can't.
OK though, no-one around you needs anything you have to offer. I believe that. The wealthy and privileged seldom have to be around lesser people.

Re: Vaccine Thread (Beyond Coronavirus thread)
We have small numbers of weird anti-vaxer groups here, who stage noisy demonstrations at the Health Minister's office. Many believe the usual crap that the virus is fake, and is a plot by some version of the Deep State to control us. Their numbers are small, but they may put more disquiet into the minds of those who are unsure about getting the jab.

Re: Vaccine Thread (Beyond Coronavirus thread)
Can't do much about that kind of 'vaccine resistance'.
What CAN be addressed, is the other kind. The innocent kind. Lots of people (in Canada anyway) are VERY reluctant to 'jump the line', and so politely wait until they are SURE they are called.
That kind can be fixed, by just talking about it more. Already a few of my friends have asked the vaccine clinic for info, rather than simply deeming themselves 'unworthy'.
Prioritizing something like this is complex and fluid.

This is why we can't have nice things.

Bill Gates is off the hook, though. Apple Corp. isn't.

You could abolish the internet, simply by unplugging it. That would help manage info so you don't have to put up with 'wrongthink'.
