Some russian collusion conspiracy theorists keep waiting for 'IT' to happen...they are still trying to remove the guy, even weeks after he left office. You can't really treat them as rational.

The Very Serious Democrats are going to have an Impeachment tomorrow. This is the continuing effort to remove Trump from office, starting before he was sworn in, and being obvious and steady since.

I guess now that he has left, they can have a little ceremony to remove him, and declare victory against the 10-million voters (or so) who supported him.

No, but it is related to their unrelenting temper tantrum about Turnip getting into their club. They screeched and took every opportunity to try to get him out.

Well, there is the little matter of him inciting violent insurrectionists...

And that is the charge in the impeachment. Not "you're a horrible person and we hate you"

Now, perhaps that charge itself will be seen to be excessive, and/or even if not, Republican senators, fearing for their future job prospects will vote against impeachment. The lawful process will take its course, there will be a result either way, and then we'll all move on...

The only consequence of a successful impeachment for Trump will be not being able to stand for office again, as far as I can tell.

Of course, then there is the slew of other court cases he will face...

But, personally, I think the most likely outcome is that the Senate fails to find him guilty. If so, there's an end to it.
