Yeah, it's terribly unfair of Snopes to show how you got played again. That's what really happened.Cunt wrote: ↑Sun Jan 24, 2021 8:44 pmSnopes isn't exactly 'fair' about things like this. It's like trusting someone just because they say they are a 'fact-checker', when the real fun starts when you watch a segment called 'fact-checking the fact-checkers'.
What really happened, was that Biden signed an order, then set an example.
No news really, the guidelines are always trending more authoritarian. I haven't seen any of 'The Science' support freedom or individuality.

Biologists talking about new policies, intersectionality and the BLM movement. GREAT insights. It's good to listen to progressive leftist scientists for criticism of the Biden presidency.

In this episode, we begin by discussing some of the Biden administration’s early policy decisions: shutting down DAPL, rejoining the Paris Agreement on Climate, and affirming the rights of trans people (and in so doing putting the rights of women at risk)

How does affirming the rights of trans people put women's rights at risk?

You could listen to the podcast to get their perspective, but I won't try to express it to you. Difficult discussions belong elsewhere.pErvinalia wrote: ↑Sun Jan 24, 2021 11:05 pmHow does affirming the rights of trans people put women's rights at risk?

The one thing I'm less likely to listen to than a rambling Youtube video: podcasts. Unless its NPR.
Re: All Things Biden: Is It Over Yet?
No kidding, what good is it to listen to progressive scientists, trained in biology, who are brave enough to discuss the complicated areas of trans rights...
Better to listen to Washington or Hollywood.

I don't have any way of storing info from podcasts.
Re: All Things Biden: Is It Over Yet?
It's a lot like listening. If you insist on research instead, listen, find something contrary, and write it down. It could be important.
But they just chat about things. Like here, but more verbal and a bit less bollocksy.
Dr. Heying has a lovely voice, and it drifts into being just a bit intimidating, when she gets cross. Dr. Weinstein is thoughtful, careful about his words and also a lovely speaking voice.
They talk about issues that seem to invite only rancor in other contexts. Their experience as progressives, as educators and as activists gives them a perspective I enjoy, and their living in Portland means they get to comment directly on stuff happening in one of the more progressive areas of the US. (so of the world, I guess)
Right-wingers criticising some of the progressive ideas is fun, but criticisms from the left side can be more relevant, in a lot of ways.

I get that some women are a little worried about letting people who are or claim to be trans women into female only public toilets, but it's really a bit of a storm in a teacup. Virtually all new public toilets in Oz involve a series of unisex cubicles, either with a hand-basin in each one or available on the outside. Shower facilities at beaches might be a little more fraught, I suppose...

Having thought a lot about bathrooms, having 'sex segregated' makes them dangerous. No reason they can't be together, with customs and practices adjusted.JimC wrote: ↑Mon Jan 25, 2021 1:05 amI get that some women are a little worried about letting people who are or claim to be trans women into female only public toilets, but it's really a bit of a storm in a teacup. The sex segregated things do have import, but I'll let those biologists make their points. I'm not as good at it, nor do I have a strong opinion. For example, if they are correct that womens sports are ruined - good.
High-level competitive sports are mostly disgusting anyway. Olympians may be great, but if the 'Olympic corporate' evaporated, fine - fuck em.

What about trans athletes? I'm seeing stuff that Biden's latest executive order means trans males (or would they be trans females? Fuck if I know - men who identify as women) would be able to compete in women's sports leagues. It's got the usual suspects all riled up.
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.

I think we need to rein in this executive order shite, I can't find any constitutional support for most of what Trumpy did or Biden is doing. He's not a fucking Emperor, not that you'd know it.

Re: All Things Biden: Is It Over Yet?
Most of Biden's seem to be about rescinding Trumps, from what I can see. You say "rein in", but I presume it is perfectly legal for a President to issue them. I'm sure that it would be better for government actions to go through your congress, but I suppose that takes time...

Can we have a condensed version? One that quotes the important bits? Or at least pointers (in the form of time-stamps) where they can be found? There were zero of them in the first six minutes. I will not sieve through another 84 to find the nuggets (assuming here there are any).Cunt wrote: ↑Sun Jan 24, 2021 9:42 pmBiologists talking about new policies, intersectionality and the BLM movement.
