Re: The Coronavirus Thread
This plague us nothing! In the really old days, 10 plagues would come:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plagues_of_Egypt#plague10
Re: The Coronavirus Thread
So those biologists are saying that the virus leaked from a lab in Wuhan.
And their are saying that the media denying it for so long, was part of the story.
Of course, the prevailing theory is that it was a Trump virus, so I won't contradict your soothsayers. Trump virus it is.
Does Biden inheret it? Or does it remain Trump's now that he's out?

Re: The Coronavirus Thread
So, those geologists are saying that the Earth is flat...
Re: The Coronavirus Thread
Sorry, two PhD's 'Trump' the opinion of a guy who would edit a wikipedia page, in order to avoid addressing the points made by Gad Saad.
You should probably edit their pages, too. You'll have to figure out who they are, but that shouldn't be too tough for an experienced researcher.
Re: The Coronavirus Thread
You are deflecting from the fact that the Earth is flat, according to some geologists.
Re: The Coronavirus Thread
I expect no less, from you nb. As informative as ever.
Re: The Coronavirus Thread
I walked to the supermarket today. The road seemed quite flat to me. No curvature in sight. Whom should I trust? My own eyes and some top geologists who say that the earth is flat or a guy in nun dress?
Re: The Coronavirus Thread
I trust the public statements of PhD biologists, with their names and reputations attached, over you fine folk on matters of corona virus.
But I would understand why you wouldn't.
ETA - Weinsteins area of study was bat biology. I remember nb's was editing wikipedia pages to avoid arguments and something about geology...

Re: The Coronavirus Thread
What expertise do biologists have on the shape of the earth. I read something the other day about balls. I think it was something about how they don't just roll away when you put them down in the ground or something like that. Have you heard about that? Though I think you might not be interested in balls.
Re: The Coronavirus Thread
Gad Saad commented on your expertise. Of course, with his wikipedia entries untrustworthy, I have to take him at his word about his education, and the motivations of those opposing him directly. And the motivations of those opposing him fearfully, timidly and ineffectively.
Re: The Coronavirus Thread
I did some research on balls in the meantime. Of all the videos I watched I haven't seen any balls rolling around. And some people still talk about curvatures. I am more interested in balls than in curvatures. And some geologists agree with me.
Re: The Coronavirus Thread
So while nb goes on about his subject of focus (good job, NB!) I'll tell the rest of you, this podcast raised some interesting points about the information control exerted over certain subjects, by people who should know better.
https://podcasts.google.com/feed/aHR0cH ... HQAAAAAQAgWe pivot to the lab leak hypothesis, and what its discussion in the mainstream media means for the ability of society at large to consider what might be true regarding the origins of SARS-CoV2.
Re: The Coronavirus Thread
I pivot to the flat earth hypothesis. And that is after carefully examining all the rooms in my apartment. No curvatures in sight. But I didn't have any balls around to experiment with.

Re: The Coronavirus Thread
Likelihood of the virus originating in Wuhan after cross-species jump, probably involving bats and/or pangolins in the wet market: very high
Likelihood of the virus originating in Wuhan after an accidental leak from a Chinese lab: very low, but not zero
Likelihood of the virus originating in Wuhan after a deliberate release by Chinese authorities: extremely unlikely, except to racist conspiracy theorists...

Nurse, where the fuck's my cardigan?
And my gin!
And my gin!
Re: The Coronavirus Thread
It's interesting how you didn't hear any of what the bat-biologist said, but immediately jumped to a racist theory.JimC wrote: ↑Mon Jan 11, 2021 7:53 pmLikelihood of the virus originating in Wuhan after cross-species jump, probably involving bats and/or pangolins in the wet market: very high

His most careful point, was about how difficult such media mobbing made it, to talk about the real possibilities.
Of course, his other specialty was being an educator, so it's pretty tough to top that particular combo of expertise.
