OK, Cunt, develop your own media platform, and save the free world. Plenty of other believers in free enterprise have done it, why not you?

Because I don't know how it could.

If I found the 'right way' to do free-speech protection online, one indication is that you would heartily team up with me. I think it's too tall an order.

I'm listening to a Dark Horse Podcast. Interview with a journalist who was present at the Washington protest on the 6th.

I think that has the effect of encouraging all of you to ignore it, but that might be me being kooky.

That was an interesting read Seabass.
Seconded. I thought this was particularly incisive:
To claim that the other side stole an election is to promise to steal one yourself. It is also to claim that the other side deserves to be punished.

So amazon is pulling the plug on Parler.

Good thing, too. You wouldn't want non-establishment voices.

So democracy. Very fair.
Amazon is not into the business of democracy. It's not into the business of fairness either. If it were it would pay its picker-packers a living wage to start with. is not an ideal way to attract new customers, or hang on to existing ones. If you do an image search on Google, you'll find four of the first five results coming from Parler, and there are plenty more from there queued up behind them.

I wonder if amazon will cancel the accounts of customers known to have supported the wrong government officials.

It is the dollar that counts. I wonder if that means it comes down to free speech vs money.

Amazon isn't in the business of free speech. If anyone is, it's governments.

I'm not sure any of them can oppose Amazon.

The capitol buildings sit where they are, a big, fat target.

Amazon is probably a post-office box in a low-tax state. And a few nebulous chains connecting an empire.

I'm sure that Amazon would not hesitate to terminate the account of Paul Weiser of Colorado Springs, Colorado if his purchase of a set of golf clubs posed a realistic risk of reducing its bottom line. I am also sure they would do the same if he were known to have supported the right government officials.

Yes, Daggles. It is the dollar that counts. The end.

Parler were given fair warning (24 hours) to moderate their site and remove posts inciting violence by Apple. Parler were unwilling or unable to remove posts where people were openly calling for the murder of political opponents and even Republicans, like Pence, who they felt were traitors, as well as organising riots in plain sight.

It's arguable that the stuff on Parler was illegal so it may not only be about protecting the bottom line as far as investors go. They may have become worried about the legal repercussions of hosting a site which promotes illegal activity.

The argument the right are trying to make that this is merely a "free speech" thing is somewhat absurd. It's downplaying what is actually going on there and making it out that it's just some opinions being voiced.
