Federal authorities continue to round up and arrest people charged in the deadly insurrection in the U.S. Capitol, including the man seen carrying House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's lectern.

Through Friday, the Justice Department has filed at least 55 criminal cases tied to the riot at the Capitol that left five dead. Among the charges are: carrying a loaded hand gun and Molotov cocktails and making a threat against Pelosi.

The cases include more than 16 men and women facing charges in federal district court and 40 others arrested and charged in Superior Court in Washington, D.C.

USA TODAY will continue to update this story as additional charges are announced.

"We are far from done. The rioting and destruction we saw will not be tolerated by the FBI ... We will continue to investigate all allegations of criminal activity," said Steven D'Antuono, assistant director in charge of the FBI's Washington office. "Just because you've left the D.C. region, you can still expect a knock on the door if we find out that you were part of the criminal activity at the Capitol."

I don't have a platitude map, but I know how brave it looks when big tech censors ideas.

They could have let all the criminals in, then locked the building and arrest them right inside.

Big tech does not censor ideas. Some governments do. In Germany, Austria and some other countries, for example, you are forbidden by law to promote the idea that the holocaust never happened. In many countries you can also get in trouble with the law if you incite hatred against any particular group of people.

So to recap, they had molotov cocktails, pipe bombs, homemade napalm, guns, a gallows, zip ties, handcuffs, they were chanting "hang Mike Pence" and "We're coming Nancy", and they were telling cops to step aside or die.

Whether you prefer to call this a coup attempt, an insurrection, or what have you, people need to realize that this was much more than just an unruly mob that got out of hand.

Before this week I would have said that Trump running for president in 2024 was somewhere between plausible and likely, with him even having a chance of winning. But after the Jan. 6th “Beer Belly Putsch,” (so dubbed by Tom Nichols, professor at the U.S. Naval War College) and the resulting implosion of Trump's world (banned from Twitter), that is much less likely. Still, you never ever know when it comes to politics, and regardless Trump, more tarnished than ever and probably hounded by litigation, will remain a giant figure in our lives.

Big tech does not censor ideas.

A very broad statement.

Some governments do. In Germany, Austria and some other countries, for example, you are forbidden by law to promote the idea that the holocaust never happened. In many countries you can also get in trouble with the law if you incite hatred against any particular group of people.

Big tech chooses which countries they bow to. Some content producers get notices about breaking blasphemy laws in foreign countries, some make violent threats against groups with imputiny, some seem to have the opposite treatment.

But it isn't 'big tech' censoring ideas. They are just blowing with the wind. It's downright paranoid to suggest they collude, or conspire with certain governments to censor ideas.
