Yeah, that supposed wall is going to turn into a dam any time now.

I wish I was an artist, so I could draw the kool-aid man's missus, with pendulous jugs, nursing Joe and Hermit.

Look, I can't draw, but if you can, take my idea, only make the Mrs. Koolaid a descendant of the three-breasted martian hooker from that old movie.
Re: The Coronavirus Thread
Ah the glorious results of a misspent youth. I get to bogart the Kool-Aide.

Just pretend you were a sculptor and the kool-aid man's missus looked like a she-wolf.

You obviously haven't seen how limited I am in my sculpture efforts.

Looks good, actually. It also looks like it's doing the job it was designed for, to enable the peaceful coexistence of house and tree despite their extreme proximity to each other perfectly.
The routing along the edges does not hide the uneven curvature, but to me that only adds to its attractiveness. The unevenness makes it obvious that the balustrade was hewn freehand by a human rather than created by a computer-controlled milling machine.
Also, many a sculptor started off as woodbutchers. Think about it. You could finish up as the 21st century Rodin.

Thanks. One of my inspirational yootubers (Izzy Swan) has a wooden hinge that he 'finishes' by hacking at it with a jack-knife, for that authentic hand-carved look, with machine precision for hinge operation. I haven't tried the technique yet, but it's on my list.Hermit wrote: ↑Mon Jan 04, 2021 1:10 amLooks good, actually. This front porch was practice. when I do the back yard (after I get this entrance in service) I'll be doing a 'best deck'. You know, for aurora-gazing with liquor, or banging in a hoarfrosted paradise.
From this vantage, it looks like I can spend what I need to on materials, and most of what makes it 'best' is skill, time and labour. I got plenty of those to chuck in. Of course, wood is getting hellishly expensive, but so is everything.

Re: The Coronavirus Thread
What the fuck do you people do in such an extreme environment? What's the industry that's there attracting workers?

You know, just the usual. Cutting down forests, killing endangered species, extracting petroleum products and generally destroying pristine environments...pErvinalia wrote: ↑Mon Jan 04, 2021 2:18 amWhat the fuck do you people do in such an extreme environment?
