I am absolutely conflicted. The mixed messages coming from authorities along with people acting freaky has me a bit guarded in weird places.

I love people who skipped having funerals that they wanted to. Then I saw 'essential' workers interpreted rather irregularly. I get that a lot of people think the government knows best, but since their messaging aligns perfectly with social media billionaires, and the big 3 companies who are profiting hugely at the seeming expense of small business...well, it makes me suspicious.

My aim is to be more careful about it than my situation genuinely calls for.

Purely conjecture. We dont know the right way to approach this virus as every situation is unique.
You cant make a list of rules as that operates counter productively. The next virus could be a completely different beast. Lockdowns dont work in a densely populated modern society. Comparing Australia to the Netherlands is ridiculous. Both are opposites on almost all levels.

Most of the infections happened in Melbourne (population 5 million), Sydney (population 5.5 million), Brisbane (population 2.5 million), Perth (population 2.1 million) and Adelaide (population 1.35 million). So you have two thirds of the Australian population living in five cities.

None of them are as big as Randstadt (population 8.2 million), but two of them come close. They are certainly bigger than Berlin (population 3.6 million) and Munich (population 1.5 million), neither of which have managed to bring the Covid outbreaks under control. That's why Berlin has introduced a hard lockdown a couple of days ago and Munich's starts today.

Lockdowns worked for Australia and New Zealand because people largely obeyed the regulations. The statistics are pretty good evidence for them. JFCOAPS indeed.
