The Coronavirus Thread
Re: The Coronavirus Thread
I remember when villainizing people for the spread of a virus was considered goache. Now it's all the rage.

Re: The Coronavirus Thread
I''ve had enough of men shopping at the grocery store, nose sticking out over the mask. Why did you bother buying that mask, buddy?

Mask-resistance should be embraced. I embrace mine by getting 'serviced' in the parking lot whenever possible.

1. Wear a mask whenever it makes a practical improvement
2. Do all you can to avoid situations where you have to mask up
It shouldn't be at all disagreeable. Unless you are wearing the mask for some other reason, it should be 'last resort' like any PPE

The WHO has to work, and can only work, in cooperation with nation states because without it they'd have no authority to operate at all.

Re: The Coronavirus Thread
My son will probably not be travelling next week, but he has plenty of masks. He was also worried about sanitizing his hands every five minutes. But as long as you are wearing a mask, your hands will not catch anything. If you rub your eyes, maybe. I would be surprised if people in regular life (not hospital settings) getting covid from touching things amount to even 1% of the cases. But we don't know.

Re: It'll soon be Christmas
One of my pals had a few mild symptoms at the beginning of last week. Headache, sore throat, dry cough. So they went for a test last Tuesday. Still hasn't had the results 11 days later. Symptoms abated, now feels fine, but doesn't know if she should still be isolating? Was told that the test was flown to Dublin and they're still waiting for a result to 'come through on the system'. Bit of a mess.

What's wrong with your system? Eswatini manages to get the results to you the next day.
Maybe Africa needs to come show y'all how to do things.

Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.

Re: The Coronavirus Thread
Thank you for taking a moment to understand.
I think the best combination is aiming for high personal compliance, while understanding that people are TERRIBLE at compliance.
And I'm 'people' (remember Tero mentioning the nose-over-the-mask? Could have been me.)
AIDS was tough to spread, but it still got through the (condoms, not masks in that case) compliance of people. Heck, just look at how many caught pregnant during the AIDS epidemic. Those were decent people, willing to spread diseases with their risky activities.
