Re: US Election 2020
I don't doubt that you have your share of loons over there, but what baffles me is that Trump's cult of personality has such far reach. It's bewildering enough that so many Merkins are drawn to such an absurd, incompetent, deranged fool, but it's especially bewildering when people who live in other countries are drawn to him...NineBerry wrote: ↑Wed Dec 09, 2020 10:05 pmWe have tons of them. Trumpists, QAnons, people denying viruses exist, Reichsbürger, anti-vaccers, Anthroposoph, homeopathy-fans and in general fans of "alternative medicine", Christian sects, traditional racist right-wingers. They all existed before. But now during the pandemic, all those groups have merged into one huge group of reality-deniers.
These two seem to be Reichsbürger turned into QAnon trumpists.

Oh, the outrage, the horror. Big Tech is stifling the voices of True Americans™. Something must be done!

'YouTube bans videos with false claims of widespread election fraud'
I'm not going to bother look up his voting record, but I would be surprised if he's supported breaking up monopolistic conglomerates in any other industries.YouTube announced Wednesday it would remove any new videos alleging widespread voter fraud or errors changed the outcome of the 2020 presidential election. The move follows Tuesday's deadline for states to certify their election results.
President Trump and his allies have repeatedly questioned the outcome of the 2020 election, trying with little success to challenge President-elect Joe Biden's win through the courts. Last week, Attorney General William Barr said the Justice Department had not found evidence to support Mr. Trump's claims.
YouTube said in a blog post that it has removed more than 8,000 channels and thousands of "harmful and misleading" videos about the election since September. Nearly 80% of the removed videos were taken down before they had 100 views, the company said, though it did not specify how many videos total it had reviewed.
...
Senator Josh Hawley, who has been critical of how social media companies and Google have policed content, called for the companies to be broken up.
"@Google owned @YouTube officially announcing free speech no longer allowed," the Missouri Republican tweeted in response to YouTube's announcement.

I tell ya, that poor Kraken gets no respect.

'Federal Judge in Arizona Dismisses Third Limb of Sidney Powell’s Post-Election "Kraken," Which Was "Sorely Wanting of Relevant or Reliable Evidence"'
Sidney Powell’s post-election “Kraken” is now nearly limbless.
Leaving only one of her post-election lawsuits standing, a federal judge on Tuesday dismissed Powell’s effort to overturn Arizona’s presidential election. The decision marks the third wholesale rejection of Powell’s conspiracy theories by federal courts across the nation, and the fourth judge skewered her pending lawsuit for a cascade of procedural errors.
“By any measure, the relief Plaintiffs seek is extraordinary. If granted, millions of Arizonans who exercised their individual right to vote in the 2020 General Election would be utterly disenfranchised. Such a request should then be accompanied by clear and conclusive facts to support the alleged ‘egregious range of conduct in Maricopa County and other Arizona counties . . . at the direction of Arizona state election officials,” U.S. District Judge Diane Joyce Humetewa began. “Yet the Complaint’s allegations are sorely wanting of relevant or reliable evidence, and Plaintiffs’ invocation of this Court’s limited jurisdiction is severely strained. Therefore, for the reasons stated herein, the Complaint shall be dismissed.”
The judge said she was left with “no alternative but to dismiss this matter in its entirety” because “gossip and innuendo” don’t cut it in court.
“Not only have Plaintiffs failed to provide the Court with factual support for their extraordinary claims, but they have wholly failed to establish that they have standing for the Court to consider them. Allegations that find favor in the public sphere of gossip and innuendo cannot be a substitute for earnest pleadings and procedure in federal court,” the judge concluded. “They most certainly cannot be the basis for upending Arizona’s 2020 General Election.”

Re: US Election 2020
The Kraken is down for the count, except for some Black Knight flopping around and protesting (two doomed appeals so far).
'Last "Kraken" Slain: Court Notes "Federal Judges Do Not Appoint the President," Wonders Why Sidney Powell Asked'
'Last "Kraken" Slain: Court Notes "Federal Judges Do Not Appoint the President," Wonders Why Sidney Powell Asked'
The last of the four lawsuits filed by President Donald Trump’s former lawyer Sidney Powell bit the dust late Wednesday in Wisconsin, where a federal judge noted that voters choose who goes to the White House in the United States.
“Federal judges do not appoint the president in this country,” U.S. District Judge Pamela Pepper wrote in a 45-page ruling. “One wonders why the plaintiffs came to federal court and asked a federal judge to do so. After a week of sometimes odd and often harried litigation, the court is no closer to answering the ‘why.’ But this federal court has no authority or jurisdiction to grant the relief the remaining plaintiff seeks.”
...
Powell compared her lawsuits to the “Kraken,” a mythical, octopus-like creature unleashed into popular culture in the film “Clash of the Titans.” Every tentacle of the litigation is now shredded, though she and her co-counsel Lin Wood have been pursuing appeals in the 11th Circuit for the Georgia case and Sixth Circuit for Michigan.
None of those appeals are expected to go far, and the rest of Judge Pepper’s opinion shows the deficiencies and carelessness in the lawsuit that makes the sea-monster dead in the water.
Powell wanted to the judge to order the disclosure of 48 hours of surveillance footage at the “TCF Center,” but that convention center is in Detroit, Michigan, the judge made sure to mention in a footnote.
Even botching the name of her client, Powell referred to her lead plaintiff William Feehan, a would-be Trump elector, as “Meehan.” The judge called out that typo, too.
That lack of attention to detail was emblematic of what the judge found to be a broader aimlessness of the entire enterprise.
“Even if this federal court had the authority to order the governor of the state of Wisconsin to certify the results of a national presidential election for any candidate—and the plaintiff has presented no case, statute or constitutional provision providing the court with that authority—doing so would further invalidate and nullify [Feehan]’s vote,” Judge Pepper noted. “The plaintiff wants Donald J. Trump to be certified as the winner of the Wisconsin election as a result of the plaintiff’s vote. But what he asks is for Donald J. Trump to be certified the winner as a result of judicial fiat.”
That, Judge Pepper would not do.

Response to the motion for leave to file a bill of complaint and to the motion for a preliminary injunction and temporary restraining order or, alternatively, for stay and administrative stay requested, due Thursday, December 10, by 3 pm.
10 more minutes for the accused states to respond. Or for Trump to show us on the doll where 4 states hurt him.

Re: US Election 2020
Election seriously flawed, as Trump is really really popular and won all kinds of stuff. And coat tails!
https://www.supremecourt.gov/DocketPDF/ ... ervene.pdfThe fact that nearly half of the country believes the
election was stolen should come as no surprise. President Trump prevailed on nearly every historical indicia of success in presidential elections. For example,
he won both Florida and Ohio; no candidate in history—Republican or Democrat—has ever lost the election after winning both States. And he won these traditional swing states by large margins—Ohio by 8 percentage points and 475,660 votes; Florida by 3.4 percentage points and 371,686 votes. He won 18 of the
country’s 19 so-called “bellwether” counties—counties whose vote, historically, almost always goes for the
candidate who wins the election.2 Initial analysis indicates that he won 26 percent of non-white voters,
the highest percentage for any Republican candidate
since 1960,3 a fairly uniform national trend that was
inexplicably not followed in key cities and counties in
the Defendant States. And he had coattails but, as
some commentators have cleverly noted, apparently
no coat. That is, Republican candidates for the U.S.
Senate and U.S. House, down to Republican candidates and the state and local level, all out-performed
expectations and won in much larger numbers than
predicted, yet the candidate for President at the top of
the ticket who provided those coattails did not himself
get over his finish line in first place.
